Last week was a rather boring one in the Windows Insider Program, as Microsoft skipped its main channels for new features in Windows 11. Now, however, Microsoft is finally releasing a new Dev and Beta build for Windows Insiders. Build 26220.7523 is a massive update with quite a lot of new features, including the "Ask Copilot" taskbar feature, improved voice input for the on-screen keyboard, File Explorer fixes (no more flashbangs), and a lot more.

In October, we introduced Ask Copilot on the taskbar in build 26220.7051 for consumer customers. Now, we’re starting to roll out a version tailored for commercial customers—first announced at Microsoft Ignite. This opt‑in experience will roll out gradually in the coming weeks to commercial Windows Insider Program customers in the United States who have Microsoft 365 Copilot licenses.
Ask Copilot on the taskbar provides a unified entry point that fluidly connects Microsoft 365 Copilot, agents, and search. This makes Copilot and agents feel like a natural part of how you use your PC, turning everyday interactions into moments of productivity and impact.

• One-click access to Copilot from your taskbar: This opt-in experience is the most integrated and natural way to engage with Copilot through voice or text in the way that works best for you. Commercial users will have all the power of their Work IQ as contextual information that they can reference in their Copilot chats and with Microsoft 365 AI Agents.
• Invoke agents: You’ll be able to invoke agents directly from Ask Copilot on the taskbar using the tools button or by typing “@.”
• Streamlined search experience: Lightning-fast results in a refreshed design makes finding apps, files and settings easier.

Last week Microsoft confirmed that the monthly December 2025 Patch Tuesday update for Windows 10 under KB5071546 broke MSMQ (Message Queuing) functionality leading to several bugs and issues including

• MSMQ queues becoming inactive
• IIS sites failing with “Insufficient resources to perform operation” errors
• Applications unable to write to queues
• Errors such as "The message file 'C:\Windows\System32\msmq\storage*.mq' cannot be created” when creating message files
• Misleading logs like “There is insufficient disk space or memory", despite sufficient disk space and memory being available

To resolve the issues, Microsoft has released new emergency out of band (OOB) updates for Windows 10 under KB5074976, KB5074975, and KB5074974.

Recently, Microsoft altered the behavior of a system service on Windows 11 24H2, 25H2, and Server 2025 such that it will now start by default. What this means is that it may now be constantly running in the background instead of when the user or system needs it, potentially leading to overuse of system resources.
Interestingly, one of the comments by a long-time Neowin forum member neufuse highlighted another such system service called Delivery Optimization that is also known to be a network and RAM hogger at times. He quipped: "can't be as bad as the delivery optimization service..... which sometimes will eat up all your memory and just sit there for fun....."

With only two weeks left in 2025, Microsoft is doing recaps of things it added to its products and different parts of Windows. In today's blog post, the company outlined everything new that the Microsoft Store has received over the course of this year.
Here are some of the most noteworthy changes and upgrades that the Microsoft Store users (there are over 250 million monthly active ones) got to enjoy:

• Special Events: The Microsoft Store now displays special cards for dedicated events, feature updates, or specials that are happening in apps and games. For example, Microsoft is now promoting the second season of the Fallout series on Amazon Prime. Special Events in the Microsoft Store are currently rolling out gradually to users in certain markets.
• Themes: This new section features various wallpaper packs and accent colors for desktop customization. While they are not true Windows themes, it is a nice place to discover fresh desktop backgrounds for your PC.
• Improved Personalization: The Microsoft Store is now better at recommending relevant apps and games to you, as it can better analyze individual interests, regional trends, deals, and other information.
• Multi-app Installation: The web version of the store now lets you select a bunch of apps and install them in one go.
• AI Hub: The AI Hub has received an updated design and special badges to indicate apps that use artificial intelligence to improve the user experience or unlock additional features.

Recite kaj hoćete al sviđa mi se Windows Store kao koncept. Prvi login sa MS accountom na komp i instaliraju se sve aplikacije koje su "tvoje" i automatski se updejtaju, ne samo OS. Da znam za winget ali ovo je fakat idiot friendly riješenje.

Moram se slozit. Svi ti debloateri u dugorocnom smislu potrgaju sustav - najcesce. Microsoft ocekuje odreden default da radi kako bi sve funkcije OS-a u svim situacijama funkcionirale kako je Microsoft zamislio. "Debloatanje" je odmicanje od standarda sto povecava mogucnost da s vremenom nesto pukne. Osobno sam vise za smislenu konfiguraciju kroz postojece alate bez rigoroznih izmjena unutar samog sustava. Kome ne odgovara postoje alternative .

Hunt says he's looking to hire a Principal Software Engineer to help with this effort. "The purpose of this Principal Software Engineer role is to help us evolve and augment our infrastructure to enable translating Microsoft's largest C and C++ systems to Rust," writes Hunt. "A critical requirement for this role is experience building production quality systems-level code in Rust -- preferably at least 3 years of experience writing systems-level code in Rust. Compiler, database, or OS implementation experience is highly desired. While compiler implementation experience is not required to apply, the willingness to acquire that experience in our team is required."

BitLocker is a fairly important security feature in Windows that you can use to encrypt your PC's hard drives. Although it was optional and primarily meant for professional SKUs of Windows initially, Microsoft make BitLocker encryption the default configuration for clean installation following Windows 11, version 24H2. While there are ways to turn it off, you may not want to after checking out Microsoft's latest announcement.
The Redmond tech giant says that it has always tried to offer the highest level of security with minimal impact to device performance, which is why BitLocker's performance overhead has always been below 10%. However, with NVMe technology getting even better, I/O operations are faster, and consequently, BitLocker struggles to keep up without taking a bigger chunk of CPU cycles. This means that there is a significant performance impact due to the bottleneck that customers notice and obviously don't appreciate.

Priznajem da bi mi prelazak sa win na nešto drugo za kućnu upotrebu u ovom trenutku predstavljalo nepotreban trošak vremena i živaca kao što je uvijek kad se izlazi iz comfy zone, ali ako se ovako nastavi bude se i to obavilo i gotovo. Što microsoft planira sa svojim os-om mene se u principu i ne tiče previše, pogotovo što mislim da niti jednu verziju nikad nisam platio više od tridesetak kuna

Sa dumb-friendly Linux distribucijama danas ti to više nije nikakav bauk. Baš su stupid proof, a sada imaš i neke nove "immutable" distribucije koje su još više dizajnirane za običnu ekipu (nema čačkanja po terminalu).

Meni se čini ako cijene komponenti nastave rasti (pogotovo RAM), a MS nastavi bloatati svoj OS, da će prije ili kasnije završiti u slijepu ulicu iz koje je izlaz jedino bolja optimizacija. No, to je neka daleka budućnost i optimističan scenarij, barem šta se OS-a tiče...

meni nije problem na povrsini linux. koristim linux mint mate vec godinama u virtual masinama, al onak povrsno. problem je napredno koristenje jer sa terminalom u linux-u nisam iskusan, a ne volim nabadati naredbe, a da neznam sta radim.
a tu se treba potrudit i ulozit vrijeme za sta nemam ni vremenaq ni volje trenutno. to je ono sto mene drzi na distanci vec dugo i naravno gejming iako koliko vidim linux tu ide sve vise napred...

Na desktopu, sam usao par puta u terminal i to cisto iz navike. Sve se moze rijesiti kroz gui, sad vec imam desetak laptopa na lmde I na Ubuntu. Na svom laptopu cu morati u terminal jer fortinet ubija sslvpn, a njihov client ne podrzava ipsec. Ali to je vec problem njih.

Rekoh, ima par uobičajenih razloga zašto se to može dogoditi (fali driver ili onaj stari bug koji nastaje kod instalacije sa USB, gdje treba izvaditi stick pa onda opet pokrenuti proces instalacije).

I onda mi sine, pa to govno sigurno ima bitlocker aktiviran i onda se dogodi da instaler "ne vidi" disk. Vidi on njega, nego ga vjerojatno samo preskoči. Koliko će ljudi zaglaviti na takvim debilanama.

Ako disk nije inicijaliziran se isto nece pojaviti u Windows installeru... To obicno nakon zeroinga diska bude (meni uvijek nakon sto sa HD Sentinelom napravim write test)... Moguce da se isto pojavljuje nakon wipeanja diska iz BIOSa..

Da, zna ponekad biti da treba disk formatirati prije windows instalacije. Što je također debilana. Ja za te svrhe koristim Gparted live linux. Brzo se pokrene, new table, done. Ovo za BIOS nisam razvio naviku traženja opcije.

Originally introduced with Windows Vista in 2006, BitLocker is Microsoft's own solution for managing fully encrypted volumes and storage units. The technology is also notorious for having some reliability, performance, and security issues, but Redmond is now working to fix all these problems at once - provided you are willing to buy some new PC hardware.
Microsoft will soon start "accelerating" input/output (I/O) operations for BitLocker-encrypted volumes on PC systems with compatible hardware components. The company initially introduced the change at the Ignite conference last month, and has now provided some important details about how hardware-accelerated encryption will actually work.

Why I Refuse To Use Windows

Ja ne kontam kako ti influenceri misle da su ljudi toliko glupi da koriste windows jer nisu culi da postoji linux. Lik prica o linuxu kao da je proslog utorka saznao za njega. Ovo vec postaje kao: "Why I become traveler. Dont be in chains." Kao da niko od nas nije sposoban otic i zivjet u šumi. Niko ne koristi windows 11 sto zeli, vec sto mora. Kao da pricamo o browserima pa koji je cool a ne o OS-u koji drzi monopol. 90% ljudi da napusti windows mora promjeniti i posao. Tacno vidis da niko od njih nije radio u firmi u kojoj nemas pravo koristiti odredjene sajtove a da ne govorim o instalaciji dodatnog softwarea. Oni pricaju o promjeni OS-a. Kao da svi koriste windows za jebeni streaming.

Jedno je srat po windowsu ali dodje mi da razbijem ekran kad vidim prepotentne likove koji rasipaju pamet: sta je smisao zivota.

Mislim da je cilj takvim likovima širiti svijest o Linuxu prosječnim korisnicima (i usput prodavati svoje online course-eve)
Mene je iživciralo šta sam iz znatiželje išao vidit šta on to nudi u svom besplatnom Linux starter kitu.
Procedura:
1. Moraš upisati ime i dat svoj email (toliko o autonomiji) - koristio sam temp mail naravno
2. Onda dobiješ prvi email sa potvrdom subscriptiona, nakon čega ti otvori razna svjedočanstva likova koji su do jučer bili robovi, a već nakon 2 tjedna njegovog kursa, rade samostalno i zarađuju 6 figures
3. Onda dobiješ mail da ćeš dobiti besplatan Linux starter kit za sat vremena (još čekam)*.

Tako da...
Uzeti sa zrnom soli (ali podržavam pokušaj da šta više ljudi osvijesti o Linuxu i usput istakne realne probleme Win11).
