Samo da priupitam, hw akceleracija u chrome based browserima u youtubeu je i dalje hit or miss? Vidim FF lipo radi, CPU ne ide preko 20% ali Vivaldi je banana i ide do 50-80% ovisno o videu. Vent vristi, jasno. Jucer sam cijelu vecer nesto pokusavao i borio se sa flagovima itd... Vainfo uredno reporta koje codece podrzava (ciljam na VP9 u mom slucaju). Fedora wayland.

Imate neki ok link za skuziti kako rade ti desktop fajlovi, to ne mogu bas nikako skuziti i tesko mi je to prihvatiti jer izgleda kao nesto ful banalno.

Vodio sam se po ovom tomekovom postu kod inicijalnog setupa, makar rucno sam to sve odradio jer ne koristim ansible

Zadnjih par godina koristim iskljucivo FF tak da sam tu out nazalost....

To je relativno lagano. Brijem da si samo RPM instalirao ili? Ovu komandu inace mozes direktno u terminalu izvesti i testirat dali ce ti to pomoci. Ako da - onda tek editiras desktop fajl (imaj na umu da ce ga svaki update Vivaldija po defaultu prepisat). Kad potvrdis da rijesava tvoj problem moras kao root slijedeci fajl editirat:

/usr/share/applications/vivaldi-stable.desktop

I editirat ovaj redak:

Exec=/usr/bin/vivaldi-stable %U

Da bude:

Exec=/usr/bin/vivaldi-stable --enable-features=VaapiVideoDecodeLinuxGL --use-gl=angle --use-angle=gl %U

Vidi jel ti to pomaze...ako da napravit cemo workaround jos za prepisivanje .desktop fajla kod Upgrade-a.




P.S.- testirao upravo kod sebe - CPU je imao spike na 40% al se 90% vremena drzi oko 5% na 1080p videu. No upada mi nekaj drugo u oko:

A ok, moja instalacija je bila kroz flathub jer druge opcije nije bilo kroz software center, znaci tu je bio "problem" zasto komanda ne radi u terminalu. Ili sam upisivao krivi path za app.

Ukratko, instalirao rucno Vivaldi-stable RPM, pokrenuo Vivaldi kroz terminal i stvar radi

/usr/bin/vivaldi-stable --gtk-version=4 --enable-features=VaapiVideoDecodeLinuxGL --use-gl=angle --use-angle=gl %U

CPU je na oko 15-20% za 4k sadrzaj uz tu i tamo spajk na 40% (valjda kod bufferanja), vent je miran, temp je ok. Isto se ponasa kao FF i to je rekao bih ok!

Nemam toliko errora kao ti, svega par komada za gl_surface_presentation_helper... Vjerojatno nebitno.

Vidim i kroz vivaldi://gpu da je hw decoding upaljen i napokon mi na dnu ispisuje Video Acceleration Information za decoding (to je prije bila prazna rubrika). Sve je tamo, H264, VP9, HEVC.

Probao sam zamijeniti exec kako si gore napisao, sejvao, ali nista se ne dogadja. Pokrenem browser klik na ikonu i HWA ne radi, ponasa se kao defaultna instalacija.

Uvijek preferiraj nativnu instalaciju ako je dostupna, kroz sluzbene repoziitorije ili direktno od developera (respektabilnih barem). Flatpak je zadnja opcija jer sam cesto primjetio da aplikacije najcesce ne iskoristavaju puni potencijal koje mogu na toj distri.

Mislim da je vrijeme da se systemd malo limitira u kontroliranju Linux OS-a.

"A good portion of my home directory got deleted," complained a bug report for systemd filed last week. It requested an update to a flag for the systemd-tmpfiles tool which cleans up files and directories: "a huge warning next to --purge. This option is dangerous, so it should be made clear that it's dangerous."

The Register explains: As long as five years ago, systemd-tmpfiles had moved on past managing only temporary files — as its name might suggest to the unwary. Now it manages all sorts of files created on the fly ... such as things like users' home directories. If you invoke the systemd-tmpfiles --purge command without specifying that very important config file which tells it which files to handle, version 256 will merrily purge your entire home directory.
The bug report first drew a cool response from systemd developer Luca Boccassi of Microsoft: So an option that is literally documented as saying "all files and directories created by a tmpfiles.d/ entry will be deleted", that you knew nothing about, sounded like a "good idea"? Did you even go and look what tmpfiles.d entries you had beforehand? Maybe don't just run random commands that you know nothing about, while ignoring what the documentation tells you? Just a thought eh
But the report then triggered "much discussion," reports Phoronix. Some excerpts:

• Lennart Poettering: "I think we should fail --purge if no config file is specified on the command line. I see no world where an invocation without one would make sense, and it would have caught the problem here."

• Red Hat open source developer Zbigniew JÄ(TM)drzejewski-Szmek: "We need to rethink how --purge works. The principle of not ever destroying user data is paramount. There can be commands which do remove user data, but they need to be minimized and guarded."

• Systemd contributor Betonhaus: "Having a function that declares irreplaceable files — such as the contents of a home directory — to be temporary files that can be easily purged, is at best poor user interfacing design and at worst a severe design flaw."

But in the end, Phoronix writes, systemd-tmpfiles behavior "is now improved upon."

"Merged Wednesday was this patch that now makes systemd-tmpfiles accept a configuration file when running purge. That way the user must knowingly supply the configuration file(s) to which files they would ultimately like removed. The documentation has also been improved upon to make the behavior more clear."

Nije programiranje za svakoga
Uvijek se nađe neki developer koji brani svoju uvrnutu logiku razmišljanja i ne kuži da to kako si je on zamislio da nešto treba raditi ne odgovara svima.
Ovdje me više brine nedostatak analitičkog razmišljanja prije nego je to isprogramirano, a i testiranje koje očito nije provedeno u dovoljnom opsegu.
Ali da, zabrinjavajuće je kako se gura systemd sve dublje u OS.
Kao init sustav systemd koncept uopće nije loš, dapače, ali development pati od megalomanije za preuzimanjem svih funkcija OSa.
