45nm Xeoni u drugoj polovici godine

Server 45nm Xeon products based on the Penryn core will be available into production for the second half of 2007. Intel's latest desktop guidance claims 45nm desktop SKUs will also launch in late 2007, with volume shipments occuring in 2008. As it stands right now, only the mobile 45nm SKUs are expected to launch in 2008.

Penryn-based Xeon processors will utilize the same server platform as Xeon 5000, 5100 and 5300. Nehalem, Intel's next-generation microarchitecture on the 45nm node slated for 2008, will require new platform technology and is not compatible with the Penryn platform.

45nm quad-core Harpertown and dual-core Wolfdale were originally slated to spearhead the next-generation Xeon launch in Q1 2008. The existing Bensley platform, Intel 5000P chipset, will still provide the heavy lifting for volume dual-socket on 45nm Xeon. A new platform, Cranberry Lake, will replace Bensley-VS for value dual-socket Intel platforms, and will support Harpertown and Wolfdale.

VRM ver. 11.1 za Bloomfield procesore i nasljednik Bearlake chipseta

VRM za Bloomfield
  • Intel has released the VRM (Voltage Regulator Module) design guidelines for the next-generation Intel LGA 1366 processors, and this VRM design guide is updated from 11.0 to 11.1. The first LGA 1366 processors, code-named Bloomfield, are 45nm Quad Core based on Nehalem. This new processors contain 8-12MB L2 Cache, and the so missed Hyper-Threading technology will return in Bloomfield. New transmission protocol will be adopted to replace the Front Side Bus introduced since Pentium 4’s era. LGA 1366 will be firstly introduced for high-end market in mid-2008, while LGA 775 would stay until mid-2009 when LGA 1366 become a mainstream.

Eaglelake chipset
  • Intel has completed designing their Bearlake desktop boards based on P35 and G35 chipsets with the launch on March 15th. We can expect to see a slew of Bearlake boards designs from the motherboard makers during CeBIT. Boards development for its successor "Eaglelake" are going start soon and it will be pairing up with ICH10 Southbridge to support higher FSB Penryn processors. ICH10 supports 10GB and Wireless Ethernet controllers with some new technologies to reduce CPU load and improve power consumption.

A kakva je situacija i975X chipsetom, hoce li na njega ici 1333 FSB procevi (ako znas)?

Citiraj:

975X has been around since the Pentium Extreme 800 series CPU; it lacks native DDR2-800 memory support as well as support for high FSB overclocking and the improved ICH8 series Southbridge. There was only one single thing that saved the 975X at first, it was the only Intel chipset to have AMD Crossfire dual graphics support but this all changed when AMD and ATI ratified P965 with Crossfire capabilities, now 975X takes a back seat to the P965.

Core 2 Quad Q6600, nagađanja oko 45nm i detaljan popis svih C2D procesora

Core 2 Quad Q6600
Intel recently unveiled its updated pricelist for Q3’s processor products. Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 has already experienced a large cut from $851 per 1,000 units shipped to $530 on April 22. The company decided to make another cut to Core 2 Quad Q6600, where its price would be as low as $266 per 1,000 units shipped. Meaning this new processor would experience a 68.7% accumulative cut of price since its release in March. Another point that should deserve our attention is that Intel would no longer release any Dual-Core Intel Core 2 Extreme edition. Intel Core 2 Extreme QX6800 processor released in Q3 will be the last Dual Core of this series.

Detalji i nagađanja oko 45nm procesora
We won't see the things on the desktop until the beginning of 2008. Given Intel's 45nm fab plant schedule, the 45nm rollout will probably be slow like Conroe's. The cheapest price on the 45nm dual cores will be at the $183 price level, again, much like Conroe. 45nm will be the time when quadcores start becoming mainstream, and the cheapest 45nm quadcore will initially cost somewhere around $266. We don't expect Penryn to be dramatically better than Conroe, maybe 10-20% better mostly due to increased clock speeds.

Preview performansi Bearlake P35 chipseta

Intel has put a lot of work into this chipset by the design of it, and with more on the way we can only hope things do get even better.

Citiraj:

With the new Northbridge or MCH as Intel now calls them, a new Southbridge or ICH will be put into play. This is set to be the 9th generation of ICH so creatively it’s known as the ICH9. Intel plans to release four different variants, similar in design to that of the current ICH8 series - ICH9, ICH9R, ICH9DH and ICH9DO.One thing that was very limited in this silicon revision was its overclocking. All of the ICH9 series will support PCI Express 2.0 ports allowing for a doubling of bandwidth. One of the other major changes to PCI Express 2.0 is external plug in system, PCI Express 2.0 can be connected to external devices though standard copper cables up to 10 metres away. This will be extremely helpful for laptops who want to plug in an external graphics card, no more MXM modules needed, just a PCI Express 2.0 plug and your off and racing.
By default the motherboard supports 333MHz FSB but we only managed to get it to 350MHz and this wasn’t 100% stable. This wasn’t anything to do with the board itself, as our board was supplied with plenty of overclocking tweaks, just that the chipset is of first silicon and not ready for full release yet. The P35 is based on 65nm process technology and once it’s fully ready for public consumption, we expect it to perform as least as well as Intel P965 in FSB overclocking.

Yorkfiled, Wolfdale i finalne specifikacije i detalji oko Bearlake serije chipseta

Intel and its partners will kick of CeBIT 2007 with the launch of Intel's Bearlake family of chipsets for desktop PCs. The new series introduces support for DDR3 memory, front side bus speeds up to 1333MHz and are designed to support Intel's upcoming 45nm-process CPUs, the Core 2 Duo (Wolfdale) and Core 2 Quad (Yorkfield).

Citiraj:

  • The P35 introduces support for DDR3 memory which is currently specified to run at up to 1066MHz, versus DDR2's 800MHz, and so offers greater memory bandwidth. DDR3 also operates at just 1.5V compared to DRR2's 1.8V.

  • The G33 – a chip with similar features but which adds integrated graphics – can only be seen behind closed doors. G33 supports DDR3 and/or DDR2 memory, front side bus speeds up to 1333MHz, and is designed to support Intel's upcoming Wolfdale and Yorkfield CPUs. The G33's IGP supports DirectX 9 and is scheduled to launch in the second quarter.

  • The G35, a chipset similar to the G33 but which features a DirectX 10 based IGP. Finally, two chipsets aimed at business platforms, the Q35 and Q33, and a value segment chip – which will not sport DDR3 or the quad-core Yorkfield CPUs – will be also be introduced under the name G31.

  • The X38 also supports FSB speeds of 1333MHz and upcoming Wolfdale and Yorkfield CPUs, but unlike the P35 and G33 will not include legacy support for DDR2. X38-based motherboards will only support DDR3, but in the high-end market this makes sense. X38-boards will support two x16 PCIe slots, but it is unknown whether Crossfire and/or SLI will be possible due to licensing issues.

Performanse E6420, E6320 i E4400 procesora

In about a month Intel is going to launch three new low-cost processors in the Core 2 Duo family and reduce the prices of the already existing dual-core CPUs. Core 2 Duo E6420 and E6320, will be more advanced analogues of the existing Core 2 Duo E6400 and E6300: they will feature larger L2 cache – increased to 4MB. Core 2 Duo E4400, is none other but Core 2 Duo E4300 overclocked to 2.0GHz

Citiraj:

We can conclude that Core 2 Duo E6420 processors can overclock as good as their elder brothers: CPU was working stably at 3.72GHz, which is 75% higher than the nominal. Core 2 Duo E6320 with the nominal Vcore of 1.3125V could speed up to 3.29GHz without any core voltage increase. It is equal to 470MHz FSB.

Razotkriveni Penryn i Nehalem

Procesori iz Penryn obitelji
  • Penryn family of processors will be launched in the second half of this year. Details of Nehalem, which will see the light in the second half of 2008, were also provided. Both new processors are based upon the current Intel Core micro architecture and use Intel's newest 45nm Hi-k process technology with its hafnium-based Hi-k + metal gate transistor design. Penryn will deliver higher IPC and higher clock speeds. Intel wouldn't say more than "more than 3 GHz", but considering that the FSB is bumped up to 1600 MHz, 3.2 GHz is likely. Penryn family processors are supposed to be socket-compatible, meaning that on the desktop we will see them introduced as LGA-775 CPUs.

http://www.imagesforme.com/thumbs/4589Intelarchis.jpg

Nehalem arhitektura
  • Nehalem can contain up to eight cores per die. Combined with 2-way Simultaneous Multi-Threading (SMT or Hyper-Threading), you'll have the ability to execute up to 16 threads on one chip. Nehalem will also use multi-level shared cache, meaning that Nehalem could very well have a similar cache hierarchy to AMD's Barcelona. Nehalem will no longer use a FSB but a serial point to point interconnect and will have an integrated memory controller (IMC).
