Intel DG45ID ploča s X4500 HD IGPom

Intel's GMA 3100 and 3500 were not too impressive at the time, but the company promises big improvements in the GMA X4500 HD, debuting in the G45 Express chipset. The G45 Express chipset is a step up from older Intel-based budget chipsets. It supports front-side bus speeds up to 1333 MHz, PCIe 2.0, DDR2 800 or DDR3 1066, and a whole mess of SATA ports through the ICH10 controller hub. The DG45ID in particular is a DDR2 motherboard, so that somewhat limits our memory bandwidth. It's pretty small as MicroATX boards go. Note that this motherboard does not support the really high-wattage Intel processors; the fastest supported chips are the quad-core Q9550 or the dual-core E8500.

The GMA X4500 HD graphics in the G45 chipset is a relatively minor upgrade to the old GMA 3100/3500 in previous boards. It's a very similar part, only with 10 unified shader processors instead of 8, running at a higher clock speed. Intel claims that the GMA X4500 HD supports DirectX 10. It's far too slow to be usable even in the most forgiving of DX10 titles, and even with all the details turned way down. So, a big part of the GMA X4500 HD integrated graphics processor is supposed to be it's great video engine - full 1080p and acceleration for Blu-ray codec standards like MPEG-2, VC1, and H.264 (also known as AVC in some circles).
  • Hardware video acceleration worked on titles that used MPEG-2 or VC1, with CPU utilization usually in the 20–35% range.

  • Hardware AVC decoding works and CPU utilization in AVC-encoded Blu-ray titles dropped to around 20–40%.

DFI LanParty DK X48-T2RS, Asus P5E64 WS Evolution i ECS X48T-A ploče i G45 update

DFI LanParty DK X48-T2RS
DFI has moved the midrange boards to a whole new level with the Dark Series by giving you all the options of the UT/LT Series boards with only a few minor alterations. One of these changes is by using analog power regulators. The UT/LT boards use digital power regulator that costs more to make. The X48 chipset is able to use DDR2 and DDR3. It is also able to give motherboards two full 16x PCI-E 2.0 slots for video cards. This allows the X48 to be Crossfire ready from the get go. The area around the processor socket is very busy with the new heatpipe system. Under these copper heatpipes, sits the 4 phase power for the board. While the new heatpipe orientation is designed to help motherboard cooling the area seems crowed as a result.

Asus P5E64 WS Evolution
Without knowing anything about the capabilities, the aesthetics alone could be enough to grab your attention. The black PCB equipped with blue, white, and black features provides a unique look that is quite appealing. The P5E64 WS Evolution is marketed as a workstation motherboard, but by looking at all of the information at the links above it is clear that is somewhat of a hybrid. It may have all of the horsepower for workstation duty, but it seems to be more than adequately equipped to appeal to enthusiasts and gamers. To the right of the LGA 775 processor socket we find four DDR3 memory slots that support high speed, ECC and non-ECC modules in dual channel mode. For expansion cards there are a total of four PCI Express x16 slots, one PCI Express x4 slot, and two PCI slots.

The board supports XMP memory profiles, so overclocking the memory could be quite easy with the appropriate modules and a processor that could keep up. The two issues I encountered were frustrating, but in the long run they don't seem like major problems because they might go unnoticed by most users. The first issue was that in order to take advantage of EPU, you must set the BIOS to run in auto mode. You can tweak some settings once in Windows thanks to AI Suite, but significant overclocking and optimizing is ruled out.

ECS X48T-A
ECS a while ago started this new series in their product line-up of mainboard, The "Black Series"; feature packed mainboards, nice design, black PCB and decent overclocking options. QoolTech II cooler is proclaimed to be a heat-pipe based cooler. The heatpipe and notice it is actually fastened into the copper blocks with some sort of composite glue. So while the heatpipe looks nice it serves absolve no function whatsoever. And though the board is beautiful looking and has all the baseline features I'm afraid any enthusiast end-user will see this product as an above average run of the mill mainboard.

G45 Update
Brezenski talked a bit about review ExtremeTech did of an Intel DG45ID motherboard, which also found that Blu-ray acceleration didn't work. Even after an update to the review, the Intel system was still only able to score 30 out a possible 100 on the HD HQV test performed. Brezenski says that his sources -- presumably within Intel -- have told him that the low HD HQV test scores were the result of a software player issue. Brezenski says that properly configured advanced de-interlacing would raise scores 20 points higher, and while he admits those scores are still not perfect, he says they are workable. Brezenski hopes driver tweaks will help improve performance even more in the future.

Using Arcsoft Total Media Player, Blu-ray acceleration is clearly working, as indicated by CPU utilization lower than 20% on all Blu-ray materials. The big issue with G45 according to Brezenski is that stuttering every 15 seconds of Blu-ray playback at 24 Hz is still an issue. Perhaps the biggest issue of all -- especially considering G45 was expected to be an excellent HTPC chipset -- is that G45 is still unable to send 7.1 surround sound through a receiver. Considering the vast majority of home theater enthusiasts -- possibly the most likely to use the G45 chipset -- will have AV receivers in their home theaters, this one issue will be a deal killer for the majority of home theater enthusiasts.

Layout - pa recimo raspored slotova, polozaj ATX i EPS konektora, prazan prostor na IO panelu (mogli su USB-a staviti, barem 4 komada), kako stuc rece, polozaj bakterije (mada meni osobno to nista ne znaci).
Hladjenje - zujalica i nepostojanje heatpipeova na perjanici ponude?

Razer 24.08.2008. 11:12

nVidia MCP7A: GeForce 9300 i 9400 IGP

After being delayed for what seems an eternity, nVidia finally took the wraps of its 'next-gen' integrated graphics for Intel S775 processors (except 1,600MHz FSB models). A badly kept secret, nVidia will be launching a couple of 9-series SKUs which feature the fastest IGP the company has ever released. Delving into a modicum of detail, two new GPUs will be rolled out: GeForce 9300 and GeForce 9400 - codenamed MCP7A.

MCP7A represents a discrete GeForce 8400 GS amalgamated on to the single-bridge chipset, bringing 16 stream processors to the fore. The IGP derives its bandwidth from system memory, and nVidia's designed an all-new memory-controller that can interface with either DDR2 or DDR3, although not both concurrently. We expect the majority of initial boards to ship with ultra-cheap DDR2 compatibility. Interestingly, nVidia has eschewed the SidePort memory technology inherent on AMD's 790GX boards, which adds around 10 per cent extra performance by having a DRAM device integrated on to the motherboard.

Chewing through a maximum TDP of 32W for chipset, MCP7A will harness Hybrid SLi, where a discrete card can be added to improve performance. On first glance the multimedia feature-set looks strong, natively supporting DisplayPort, HDMI (v1.3a), DVI, VGA, and 7.1-channel LPCM sound. nVidia's VP3 engine is integrated to help decode of high-definition codecs. nVidia also brought the inevitable PhysX and CUDA to our attention.

Cutting to details, GeForce 9300 will ship with a 450MHz core and shaders running at 1,200MHz whilst the range-topping GeForce 9400, using the same guts, will clock in at 580MHz core and 1,400MHz shaders. The chipset provides a single x16 Gen 2.0 graphics connection, but it doesn't support Hybrid Power, where a discrete card can be switched off and video routed through the IGP in instances where big-bore 3D power isn't needed. It all looks promising on paper, as many things do, and nVidia reckons that GeForce 9300 boards will etail for comfortably less than $100 (£55) and GeForce 9400 for not much more.

Foxconn Concerto G45 ploča s X4100 IGPom

Foxconn's Concerto board comes on a black/brown 6-layer PCB measuring the full 30x24cm ATX format. The layout that Foxconn has gone for is extremely impressive. The six SATA ports controlled by the ICH10R Southbridge are located on the lower right hand edge of the board, stacked two upon two and rotated on the vertical; this keeping the cables free from any of the onboard slots or devices. Just below this are three momentary switches; one for Power On, one for Reset and one to clear the CMOS. The CPU itself is fed voltage through a 6-phase solid state voltage regulation system. Foxconn has added into this board for the onboard graphics system a DVI-I port along with a HDMI interface. Since the G45s IGP is capable of running these outputs, it’s good to see them actually being used.
http://pce.hostili.com/images/Inteltlln_thumb.jpg
http://pce.hostili.com/images/Intelv2rbt3_thumb.jpg
Due to the very early nature of the motherboard and the BIOS, overclocking was extremely poor. In fact, it was extremely unstable above the 400MHz bus clock. 425MHz caused system crashes and refused to load Vista at all. The X4100 GPU, while lacking any real gaming functions, it does has a lot of hardware based encode and decode functions built into it. Furthermore, its new DVMT sharing manages memory much better than previous Intel chipsets, limiting the stress on the system memory and keeping more total memory for system tasks rather than just stripping off a chunk like nVidia or ATi IGPs do; this regardless of how much they actually need at the time.

ECS Atom 330 Dual Core P945GC

Intel Atom is the brand name for a line of x86 and x86-64 CPUs from Intel, formerly known under the code-names Silverthorne and Diamondville. These processors were initially designed for ultra-mobile PCs, smart phones, and other portable low-power applications. These little processors; however, became so popular that they actually moved into the desktop PC arena. Take this mainboard from ECS for example. It comes with an integrated Dual Core Atom 330 processor. It has integrated sound, 10/100 Ethernet and integrated graphics. Really all you need to do is insert a slice of DDR2 533 memory and connect a HD, and you are on the web ... browsing at fairly normal speeds, listening to songs, or watching a DVD ... heck it all works fine on that Intel Atom 330 for sure. Next to that, the power consumption is obviously amazing. The platform completely maxed out merely utilizes 55 Watts, and half of that your PSU will account for all by itself. Interesting for sure, as really these mainboards, including the processor, only cost somewhere inbetween 75 maybe 99 USD.

The processor is soldered onto the PCB (Socket 437 processor) and functions at a FSB 533MHz system bus and thus has an equal integrated DDR2 533 memory controller. The new Atom 330 CPU is basically the same as its single-core counterpart, the only difference being that it will be equipped with two cores each running at 1.6 GHz, 2x512KB (1MB) of L2 cache and a power draw of get this ... only 8W. It is still manufactured on a 45nm process technology, and as stated will have a FSB of 533MHz. There are only two logical cores, yet each core is HyperThreading (offering four virtual cores (threads) to a compatible OS). The Atom also supports 64-bit processing, executive disable bit and it is halogen and lead-free. This little bugger comes with Integrated Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 950 (GMA950) with a max Dynamic Video Memory of up to 8MB.

Detaljan pregled G45 čipseta i ploča baziranih na istom

The G45 is very similar to the P45, with the addition of integrated graphics. These boards target essentially the same market, but G45 board will likely not be as targeted towards overclocking and may be a little cheaper. The major advantage of G45 will be for people who don't want any sort of 3D graphics on their desktop. While Intel continues to advance their graphics subsystem performance, the performance still just isn't there for any but the simplest of 3D tasks. These boards should really go into systems that focus on 2D operations like office applications, internet, and general communication packages. If you've got a 3-series motherboard today, the 4-series equivalent shouldn't be any faster in non-gaming/video decoding applications (although it will use less power thanks to the 65nm manufacturing process).

G45 being Intel's first 65nm IGP, it's also Intel's last IGP. After G45, there will be no more integrated graphics chipsets - Intel's graphics cores will simply be integrated onto the CPU package and eventually the CPU die itself. G45 is Intel's first chipset to include support for full hardware H.264/MPEG-2/VC-1 decode acceleration, including the entire H.264 decode pipeline (CABAC/CAVLAC entropy decoding included). This support puts Intel's integrated graphics on-par with the feature set of ATI/NVIDIA IGPs as well. It gets even better for home theater PC enthusiasts: G45 continues Intel's recent tradition of including support for 8-channel LPCM audio output over HDMI, a feature that has been around since the G965 days. nVidia supports 8-channel LPCM audio output over HDMI with its chipsets while AMD only offers 2-channel LPCM.

The first incarnation of G45 had horrible Blu-ray playback issues, it just didn't work. Since then Intel has gone through numerous driver revisions and we're finally at the point where, with the latest drivers (15.11.2.1554) that Blu-ray acceleration just works. It's supremely disappointing that it took Intel this long to fix these issues but they are at least finally taken care of. With a Celeron Dual Core E1200 processor, CPU utilization while playing a Blu-ray movie goes down tremendously, especially during H.264 playback. On faster CPUs the end result is even more manageable.
http://pce.hostili.com/images/Intel01el5b.jpg

ASUS P5Q-EM
The P5Q-EM is a feature rich G45 board featuring an OC friendly BIOS, Gigabit LAN via the almost universal Realtek RTL8111C, IEEE 1394a support, full RAID support along with six SATA ports via the ICH10R, PATA support comes by way of the Marvell 6102, and HD audio via the Realtek ALC1200. While still not perfect, we were able to attain 455FSB with our Q9300 and 485FSB with the E8600 with aggressive timings and 4GB. We hit a 412FSB wall with the integrated graphics set, not bad at all actually.

http://pce.hostili.com/images/Intel025fi1_thumb.jpg

Gigabyte GA-EG45M-DS2H
Gigabyte decided to take an opposite turn when it came to deciding on the discreet graphics capability for this board. The x16 graphics slot is not run off the MCH that would have provided a true x16 PCIe 2.0 capable slot. Instead, Gigabyte placed an x16 connector on the board that actually runs off the ICH10R at x4 PCIe 1.1 speeds. The digital output is muxed across the x16 lane in the MCH, which prohibits the use of the X4500HD and a discrete GPU at the same time unless you run the dGPU off the Southbridge. Gigabyte also utilizes an excellent four-phase power delivery system along with very good solid capacitors throughout the board that resulted in superb stability throughout our four hundred hour testing regimen. We were able to reach the 407~412FSB range when overclocking with the X4500HD active.

http://pce.hostili.com/images/Intel03xdp0_thumb.jpg

SuperMicro C2SEA
The Super Micro C2SEA is a full size ATX board featuring the G45 chipset but with DDR3 memory support instead of the typical DDR2 configurations we see in this sector of the market. The BIOS is designed in this manner as the board will typically end up in white box systems for large corporate accounts or for those in the retail sector who value stability over pizazz. We have to say upfront, this board was extremely stable if nothing else. This is not a board for those that like to fine tune, overclock, or tinker with a BIOS. It is not sexy, there is no flash here, and the documentation is about as interesting as a tractor maintenance manual. However, it is a perfect board for those who want to set up a board once and then forget about it.

http://pce.hostili.com/images/Intel04lqy2_thumb.jpg

Intel DG45ID
This is a well laid out board for the most part. The board features a three-phase power delivery system that worked well with our test processors that included the dual-core E5200 up to the quad-core Q9300. Intel designed this board to be legacy free as it does not include IDE, floppy, parallel, or PS/2 ports. The BIOS offers very few selections for tuning the board. The automatic fan control system is useless to us but with the right CPU and chassis fans, we can live with it if required. The S3 resume and inductor problems are more troubling as they are not consistent. If we were to change one item on the board, it would be the ability to manipulate CPU voltages. The ability to slightly undervolt/overvolt CPUs is important to a cross-section of consumers that would be in the market for this board.

http://pce.hostili.com/images/Intel05xbxf_thumb.jpg

As a HTPC solution G45 promises to be the chipset we've all been waiting for, but falls short. Honestly the best combination for a HTPC would probably be an Intel P45 based motherboard (G45 would also work) with an AMD Radeon HD 4670 (or its upcoming, passively cooled successor). Power consumption is down since G35, but you're looking at a 8 - 11% reduction in total system power consumption by switching from G35 to G45 thanks to the smaller manufacturing process.

This board will get a similar made by Thermalright cooler as seen on older boards, but this time around DFI has decided to make the coolers themselves to try and reduce costs. It was mentioned that while the cooler will be similar, it will be improved by allowing users to use their own after market or custom cooling equipment or “weapons”, whereas with other brand motherboards that is not always that easy to do. DFI told us that they were not aware of any serious issues and that they’ve tested memory working around 1.8 – 1.9 volts without killing a CPU. DFI has no intention of limiting the amount of voltage to go to the memory on the LanParty UT X58 and stated that they will probably support up to 2.0 – 2.1 volts and are considering providing a warning to users depending on how further testing goes up until when the board goes on sale in November.

The LanParty UT X58 will support ATi CrossfireX and nVidia SLi and the final version will have its three PCI-E 2.0 expansion slots running electronically at x16, x8 and x8 lanes. As far as power phases go, the Socket LGA-1366 CPU gets eight phases, two phases for the triple-channel DDR3 memory, two for the Northbridge and also two for the PWM. As far as availability goes, the board should go on sale no later than the end of November after the launch of the first three Intel Core i7 processors and while the price hasn’t been fully decided yet, it should go on sale for “at least” $300 USD – start saving your pennies, as no X58 motherboard is going to be cheap.

Pošto (barem prema izvorima Barbare Radulović) Razer već zasigurno pikira DFI-ovu inačicu, nema straha da i drugi proizvođači ne ponude podjednako skup(lje)e i(li) opremljen(ij)e ploče.:)
Od zanimljivijih X58 ploča očekuju se još Asus P6T6 WS Revoution (ovu Bubba nabavlja za Božić:)), Biostar T-Power X58 i Asus X58 Rampage II Extreme.
Eventualno još da u bundle ubace album kakvog black metalcore/death metal benda sa ženskim vokalima i slobodno mogu štampati naljepnice Brutal Edition.:D
