Ono-kupiš mikrovalku i frić, dobiješ grafu

TI Technologies, after signing a digital TV chip MOU (memorandum of understanding) with Samsung Electronics, closed several more deals with South Korean companies for its high-end desktop graphics chips.

According to a press release last week from the Canadian graphics chip designer, LG Electronics (LGE), TriGem Computer and Sigmacom have chosen ATI’s desktop graphics chips.

LGE will ship Radeon 9800- and Radeon 9200-powered graphics cards, while TriGem will use Radeon 9200 chips for its Dreamsys-branded products. Sigmacom also chose Radeon 9800 and Radeon 9200 graphics chips to power its newest Sigma graphics cards. Sigmacom sells graphics cards directly to end-users through retail channels and to OEMs for use in PC systems.

It is believed that these South Korean deals were the latest results of ATI’s Asia Pac Partner Program (APPP) marketing strategy. The APPP, introduced by ATI in September 2002, enables regional SIs (system integrators) and retailers to benefit from a rebate of US$1-5, depending on product lines.

In addition to South Korea, the APPP rebate program is also heavily promoted in China. ATI chairman and CEO Ho Kwok-yuen earlier said he hopes the company’s graphics chips will take half of China’s clone market and a 70% share in the OEM sector in the fourth quarter of this year.
