Otkad je počela ta priča o Radeon verziji DLSS-a, uvijek je bilo spomenuto da će koristiti DirectML (1 - 2) koji je ionak dio DirectX 12 paketa i podržava sav moderan hardver.

DirectML is a high-performance, hardware-accelerated DirectX 12 library for machine learning. DirectML provides GPU acceleration for common machine learning tasks across a broad range of supported hardware and drivers, including all DirectX 12-capable GPUs from vendors such as AMD, Intel, nVidia, and Qualcomm. Direct Machine Learning (DirectML) is a low-level API for machine learning (ML). Hardware-accelerated machine learning primitives (called operators) are the building blocks of DirectML. From those building blocks, you can develop such machine learning techniques as upscaling, anti-aliasing, and style transfer, to name but a few. Denoising and super-resolution, for example, allow you to achieve impressive raytraced effects with fewer rays per pixel.
Na taj način bi postigli cross-platform podršku koju spominju, tj. stvar bi radila i na GeForce hardveru, jer su podržani, tj. mogla bi lako ispasti G-Sync vs. FreeSync priča.

Deep learning super sampling (DLSS) is an image upscaling technology developed by nVidia and exclusive to nVidia graphics cards for real-time use in select video games, using deep learning to upscale lower-resolution images to a higher-resolution for display on higher-resolution computer monitors. A side effect of DLSS 2.0 is that it seems not to work very well with anti-aliasing techniques such as MSAA or TSAA, the performance being very negatively impacted if these techniques are enabled on top of DLSS. As of April 2020, DLSS 2.0 must still be included on a per-game basis by the game developers. The neural network is trained by nVidia using "ideal" images of video games of ultra-high resolution on supercomputers and low resolution images of the same games. The result is stored on the video card driver. It is said that nVidia uses DGX-1 servers to perform the training of the network.
nVidia je tak jasno svoje rješenje hardverski + softverski zaključala, ali budemo pričekali da vidimo kaj bude na kraju ispalo od Radeon verzije.
