Sma, before doing the soldering you should have checked out if the readpoint was actually the good one. You can still undo the soldering first, or put your VR on it's maximum value so you can not do any damage. Check the Vdimm with 1,8V and 2,1V set in BIOS and see if the voltage changes on the suggested point.
How I use it: I change Vdimm in BIOS to 2,1V. Then I use the hardmod to give 2,4V. After doing benchmarks and testing I just set my voltage back in BIOS so that I don't have to turn the VR 10 times every time I'll want do benchmark.
Example: 2,1V set in BIOS gives my 2,4V with the hardmod. If I switch to 1,8V in BIOS I get actually 2,1V which is a safe value for my memory.
