The main difference between the X1950XTX and the X1900XTX lies in the faster Memory clock speed of the GDDR4 Memory used on the X1950XTX. Memory bandwidth improves by about 33% from 750MHz to 1000MHz, according to clock speeds. The cooler is fully copper throughout, including the fins. There is a heat pipe extended from the copper base to aid and speed up heat transfer over to the fins.
The X1950XTX is
24% faster than the X1900XTX in
3DMark 05 and
33% faster in
3DMark 06. However, compared against the 7950GX2, the X1950XTX is
11% slower in
3DMark 05 and
20% slower in
3DMark 06. If 3D Mark is your cup of tea, the X1950XTX may not look as appealing as the 7950GX2.
Overall, the X1950XTX is about 20% faster than the 7950GX2 at 1600x1200 with 16xAF and no AA. Even with 4xAA turned on, the X1950XTX is still the winner.
