Discovery from the ComputerBase community has made AMD’s latest upscaling technology, FidelityFX Super Resolution 4 (FSR 4), work far better on Radeon RX 6000 “RDNA 2” GPUs than previously thought. The trick allows older Radeon cards to run FSR 4 without the major graphical issues that had discouraged users from trying it. The new method makes things even simpler and users no longer have to sacrifice performance due to lack of optimizations by using older drivers. The method involves using either an older AMD Adrenalin driver (23.9.1 from September 2023) or modifying the latest drivers by swapping two key files. By copying the amdxc32.dll and amdxc64.dll files from the older package into the current driver folder before installation, users can retain modern driver fixes while enabling stable FSR 4 support on RDNA 2 hardware. ComputerBase provided a full step-by-step guide, showing that the process can be completed with basic tools like 7-Zip or WinRAR.
