AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D now official: $479 price, OC support, 20% faster than Core Ultra 9 285K in games

The 9800X3D officially offers a 500 MHz higher frequency than its predecessor, the 7800X3D. This new 8-core Zen5 processor is the first in this product line to feature built-in 3D V-Cache, providing an extra 64MB layer for improved gaming workloads. AMD confirms this is a second generation X3D where the CCD (Core Complex Die) with 8 Zen5 cores is placed over the cache, reversing the order compared to last-gen series. When compared to the newly announced Core Ultra 9 285K, the processor is, on average, 20% faster in gaming. This data is based on 40+ games tested, but not all of them were shown. AMD has also confirmed that this SKU will be compatible with all existing AM5 motherboards. The company announced that the 8-core CPU will be available on November 7th, as teased earlier. The Ryzen 7 9800X3D is officially launching at $479.
