ASUS has added an XMP/EXPO warning notice to its latest motherboard BIOS updates. Traditionally, these kinds of notices have been added to alert users to the dangers of CPU overclocking. However, in the wake of the AMD Ryzen burnout saga, ASUS has decided to make it exceedingly clear that XMP and EXPO are memory overclocking functionalities. This swift response has definitely been a positive thing for AMD and its partners since sales of the Ryzen 7000 CPUs and AM5 motherboards remain strong and while there have been a few customers who have asked about the issue, it's nothing major and not stopping them from buying new hardware.

AMD's approach is quite similar to Intel's: why not implement what works on the desktop in the notebook? The chips have become more and more similar in recent years, if not equal.
