Zaista zanimljivo stivo... Izdvojia bi samo jos jedan komentar, IMO, vrijedan paznje:
Citiraj:
Before people get triggered at the fact that AMD even has this agreement with Global Foundry, remember that Glo Fo was AMD's manufacturing department that was spuned off because AMD needed cash to stop itself from going bankrupt.
Having said all that. Both AMD and Glo Fo are really lucky that the Zen 2 chips that will probably go gangbuster in 2019-2020 require Glo Fo's 14nm chips for the i/o, and it's entirely possible that Zen 3 chips will just move on to using the 12nm for the i/o.
This gives Glo Fo a lot of business and sales on nodes that they've already perfected in yields, so the folks who bought Glo Fo from AMD can now finally make money and even re-start the 7nm processs that was promising - but cancelled due to being a huge money sink.
Who knows, maybe Glo Fo's 7nm process will show up again as i/o die for the Zen 4/5 CPU's.
I'm happy for both companies. AMD is not known forn abandoning their partners at the drop of a hat like Nvidia or Intel, and I hope their relationship remains good.
