This unique car started as one of only 1505 E500/500E’s sold in the United States from 1992 – 1994. It featured a rare special order Ice Blue Metallic exterior on a Grey Leather interior. At a cost of over $80,000, these cars were hand-built in conjunction with the Porsche 959 Team and featured many characteristics never seen before on a sports sedan. It took eighteen days to complete a single car and Mercedes-Benz lost money on every one they sold. The amount of engineering and attention to detail that went into this car is beyond imagination. Don’t confuse the 500E with any other E-Class of the time; these cars were different in nearly every single fashion. Stock, the 500E produced 322 horsepower and could run the quarter mile at over 100mph. However, this particular long-time Porsche enthusiast wanted it to be a little quicker. To do this, he brought it to RennTech, a well-known Mercedes-Benz tuner. RennTech offered different levels of upgrades for the 500E – this car received them all. This is the only 6-speed manual transmission 500E ever built by RennTech, or anybody else for that matter. To upgrade the power, the stock 5.0-Litre V8 was bored to increase displacement to 6.0-Litres. This displacement increase along with numerous other engine upgrades (listed below) amounted to a remarkable engine with 465 HP and 500 ft lbs of torque. The car is in spectacular condition and has only gone 10,000 miles since completion. The entire engine was rebuilt using titanium connecting rods, upgraded camshafts, bigger valves, higher compression, ported and polished heads, solid lifters, a reprogrammed ECU, tubular headers, high-flow catalysts and a complete RennTech stainless exhaust. It also had Alcon six-piston (14.1) brakes installed along with adjustable Koni shocks, a mono-ball link suspension, and a Torsen limited slip differential.
