Genral Information

A64CLK is a simple utility designed for realtime CPU frequency monitoring and realtime adjustment of the CPU multiplier (FID) and voltage level (VID) of the supported CPUs via processor's power management model specific registers (MSRs). An AMD Athlon(tm) 64/FX family CPU supporting processor performance states transitions (known as AMD PowerNow!(tm) or AMD Cool'n'Quiet(tm) technology) is required. The presence of this feature is automatically detected at the program startup. Support for other processor, like mobile Athlon XP, or Opteron-based multi-processor systems, hasn't been confirmed yet.

Beginning with Version 1.1, locking of FID/VID values (keeping them constant) and automatic FID/VID management (based on the CPU usage reported by the CPU itself) are implemented.

WARNING: Your system may lock up as a result of FID/VID change, as well as overclocking/over-voltage of the multiplier-unlocked CPU. The developers team, the RightMark Gathering and/or iXBT.com are not responsible for any damage that may result from the usage of this utility!

Usage

Beginning with Version 1.1, A64CLK is available as a GUI-only utility.

Configuration

Following configuration options are available in the app user interface (UI):

• Min FID/VID - sets the minimal FID/VID values to transition to (at minimal CPU load). In the case of non-auto management mode, these are the new values to be applied.
• Max FID/VID - sets the maximal FID/VID values to transition to (at full CPU load). Available only in auto-management mode.
• Lock FID/VID - prevents the FID/VID values from being changed by OS/processor driver/software etc.
• Automatic management - enables automatic FID/VID management mode, analogous to AMD PowerNow!/Cool'n'Quiet software.
• Default - sets the CPU-defined default values (does not apply them).
• Apply - applies the current user-defined settings.

Miscellaneous configuration options available at the notification area (tray) icon popup menu:

• Always on Top - makes the app window stay on top of other windows.
• Run Minimized - starts the app minimized to tray (main window hidden).
• Restore Defaults on Exit - restores CPU default FID/VID values at the program exit.
