Dva napajanja
Pozdrav svima ! Zbog proširenja dva harda i dvije dodatne ladice stavio bih još jedno napajanje radi 5 i 12 V 3.3 i drugo nebi koristio dali mogu paralelno spojit dvije žice za start napajanja (smeđa + ???? ) ako možda znate Unaprijed hvala svima! |

Connecting 2 ATX PSU's together Introduction Why would I want two power supplies (PSUs) in one computer, is this guy crazy? I hear you ask. Well I wouldn't dispute that :-) but many of you will need either an expensive powerful PSU or two cheap 230/250W power supplies if you continue to upgrade your comp. The Athlons now take up quite a bit of your power. Add a few PCI cards and a couple or five CDR / CDROMS and you're about to blow your poor old PSU. Now add a couple of USB items and you're really pushing the poor thing. With the advent of RAID arrays you are looking at 80W+ just to start your HDs up. Whoops, you have blown it for sure. Oh no my comp won't work, what should I do? Well, you can either go out and buy yourself a brand new, very expensive, powerful PSU or you can rummage around and find a couple of cheap lower powered PSU's at around £10 to £15 ($15-$22 USD) and link them together. Preventative maintenance is far cheaper than the cure so if you upgrade before you blow your PSU you will already have one PSU. The aims of this Project: In this project not only do I intend to show you how to connect two PSU's together without cutting the cables of the PSUs but I also intend to show you some of the tricks of the trade, i.e. soldering, the use of silicone sealant, striping cables, the best way to join two, or even three, cables and, above all, safety when dealing with electric. Please remember that we are dealing with a maximum of 12V DC and none of the tips and tricks in this article should be applied to mains voltages. Even though the output of a PSU is only a maximum of 12V DC if you allow any form of short or arcing, especially with the high current a PSU is capable of, it could quite easily cause a fire. This can be prevented by the correct use of insulation. This method of connecting 2 PSUs together may not work with all PSUs. Before purchasing any of the apparatus mentioned below please disconnect your PSU from your motherboard and drives etc. Using a piece of wire, connect pin 14 to one of the 6 grounds, i.e. pins 15, 16 and 17 to name but 3. If your PSU kicks in then you are probably safe to continue. If your PSU doesn't kick in then you may like to try shorting pins 7 & 8 as well. The motherboard plug with the retaining clip to the top. The pins have been clearly numbered Equipment required: 2 x ATX PSUs, a case capable of taking 2 x ATX PSUs, 2 x ATX extension cables, 1 tube/can of silicone, a length of 3.2mm (1/12")bore heat shrink sheathing, 3 cable ties, a soldering iron and fine flux cored solder, a cigarette lighter, a steady hand and a brain, hmm I'm not sure where these two items are available from :-) Test equipment If possible a cheap/disused motherboard, CPU and stick of memory, and a Volt/Multimeter that is capable of measuring 12V DC. You want to connect as little as possible until you have checked you haven't done anything wrong. Theory Connect pin 15 from both PSU's together and connect pin 14 from both together. On the slave PSU connect pins 7 and 8 together. The Master PSU is the one which must be connected to the motherboard and I would recommend one that has a high wattage 3.3/5V rail because some CPUs, in particular the Athlon, require this high wattage. It may also supply 12V to supplement the 12V supplied by the slave PSU if required. You can check some of these out at AMD. The Slave PSU, which mainly feeds the 12V required by harddrives, CDROMs etc, can be any PSU with a decent 12V rail, even your existing one. The colours of the cable may differ so make sure you use the pin numbers, Pins 15 and 7 (Black) are ground wires, pin 14 (green) is the power on cable and pin 8 (grey) is the power good cable.

Making the adaptor Lets get started Take one of the ATX extension cables and carefully remove the cable ties. Take care not to damage the insulation of the cables. Once you have removed the cable ties locate pins 14 and 15 and cut the cables, leaving the tails as long as possible attached to the socket. We now need to locate pins 7 & 8 and cut the cables about 2.5 inch (60mm) long, again leaving the cables attached to the socket. Remove all other cables, cutting them as close as possible to the socket. Bare the ends of the four cables by about 10mm (3/8"). For an easy way to strip cable take a look at our hints and tips section. Looking from the back of the socket with the clip recess uppermost the pin numbers have been clearly marked. Insulation Insulation is one of the most important aspects of this project, do not overlook any part thinking you will be safe. Accidents do happen and if something that is capable of turning out this kind of current arcs then it could quite easily cause a fire. It is important to seal the cut ends of the cables. I used silicone sealant for this. Run a bead of silicone over the end of the socket and smooth the silicone using a wet finger. See hints and tips Once the cable joints have been made it is important to slide the heat shrink insulation over the joint and heat it with a cigarette lighter until the insulation has shrunk tight to the cable. Keep the lighter moving to avoid burning the insulation Jointing the cables We will start by connecting pins 7 and 8 of the Slave PSU socket. Cut a length of heat shrink insulation, slide it over one of the cables and push it down as far as possible. Do not skimp on the insulation, cut it about a 1.5 inch (40mm) long. To see the correct method of jointing cables see hints and tips Once you have soldered the joint pull the heat shrink insulation over the joint and warm it with a cigarette lighter. Up: is a photo of the slave PSU socket the joint made and insulated. We will now connect the two PSU sockets together. Take the second ATX extension and cut the cables from pins 14 and 15, approximately half way, then bare the ends of the cables. Slide a length of heat shrink insulation over the socket end of the wire. Flick the ends of the wires to open up the individual strands and mate all three cables from pins 14 ensuring that the socket from the slave PSU is at the same end as the plug from the master PSU. Twist the strands together and solder the joint ensuring you do not blob the solder on (otherwise the insulation will not feed over the joint). Pull the insulation over the joint and heat it. Repeat this step for pins 15, don't forget to slide a length of insulation onto your cable first. Securing the cables Once you have completed this fasten a cable tie round the cables, just below the joint at the plug end, and pull it tight. Bend the socket for the slave PSU back up so that both sockets are next to each other and fasten a cable tie close to both ends Complete The motherboard and the Multimeter are connected to the Master PSU and the CD Rom is connected to the slave PSU As you see two PSU's will fit into a full tower case quite easily though you may struggle with the Midi cases. The arrow is pointing to the two sockets of the lead we have just made

Hints and Tips Three of the main reasons why people fail to make good soldering joints are: 1) They did not "tin" the tip of the iron when they bought it. "Tinning" is not difficult, very lightly sand the end of the tip, heat the iron and touch the tip with flux cored solder. When the iron is hot enough the solder will run freely over the tip. Wipe off any excess solder with a slightly damp cloth, being careful not to burn your fingers or your wife's best tablecloth. 2) They have a dirty tip which requires only that iron be heated and wiped clean with a damp cloth. 3) A failure to heat the cable being jointed sufficiently. Ensure the iron is hot enough to heat the cable sufficiently so that a thin layer of molten solder runs freely throughout the joint, avoiding an excess of solder which will build into blobs To join the cables flick the very end of the cables with the thumb to open up the individual strands and push the cables together. Twist the strands between your thumb and finger, the cables will now hold together and are ready for soldering. When soldering the cables start towards one end holding the soldering iron underneath the cable. Touch the solder onto the top of the wire and, when the solder begins to melt, slowly move along the joint until it is soldered. The easiest way to smooth the silicone sealant is to spit on your finger and very lightly wipe the silicone. Keep your finger moist but make sure there is no silicone on your finger before putting it anywhere near your mouth. Keep a piece of kitchen towel handy The easiest way to strip the insulation off cable is to close your hand and extend your thumb, bending it back at the end. Grip the cable between your finger and thumb, if need be wrap the cable in between your other fingers. Hold the side cutters in towards your hand and resting on your thumb. Grip the cable taking care not to cut right through it and lever the side cutters over the top of your thumb. It's worth practicing.

Neće se svako napajanje tak upalit. Evo ja se danas malo igrao s Codegenom od 300 W i ne jebe.

Nemam pojma više gdje je to napajanje... Uglavnom, sva ostala napajanja palim spajanjem zelene i mase, al ovo jednostavno nije htjelo. |

If your PSU doesn't kick in then you may like to try shorting pins 7 & 8 as well. jel neko skužio šta treba ovdje, jel se napajanje ttreba pokrenut ili samo napravit klik kao kod mene samo klikne i nisam shvatio ono sa 7 i 8 pinom ako neće. |
