RV570....Quad Crossfire
ATi is working on a new chip. It codename is RV570 and it is set to replace the RV530, Radeon X1600 generation of cards. RV570 should feature the 256-bit memory bus and it will feature the Crossfire bridge chip inside the core. This will let the manufactures to make bridgeless and connector-less Crossfire systems. You won't need a master card and all the dull cables any more. It will also cut the production cost and will finally make the Crossfire upgrade path easier. Time will erase the necessity for the master and slave design. Even next generation R600 comes with a Crossfire bridge inside of the chip. Two cards based on RV570 chip will work together and, if you want to make a dual chip RV570 card, you won't need a bridge chip on the PCB. It will simply work and it is the way to let the manufactures make Quad Crossfire systems as well. Izvor: Inquirer Zadnje izmijenjeno od: McG. 02.04.2006. u 17:41. |

Eto odgovora na 7600GT. I taj quad-crossfire dobro zvuci, obzirom da nije potreban nikakav bridge. |

Nemam volje ni vremena čekati novi čip do ljeta. |

RV570 chip will be manufactured at TSMC. It is an advanced version of RV530, Radeon X1600 and this is the chip that is supposed to inherit the mantle of the recently announced X1800 GTO. RV570 should be just as fast and the production cost will be much lower. Secret of the RV570 is that the chip is built on 80 nanometres and it looks like ATI might move to 80 nanometres faster than we all expected. We've heard about the RV560 before and we also heard that it is a 256 bit chip that should inherit the RV530 mantle. We should be talking about the same twelve pixel pipelines but that's not clear at this point. This chip is architecturally the same as RV570 and the only difference is that it will be produced at UMC. Izvor: Inquirer |

After recent news of NVIDIA launching their 4xSLI platform, ATI now announced the launch of the Crossfire Xpress 6400. With an Xpress 6400 motherboard you will be able to purchase two master cards and two slave cards from the X1000 series to power a single display with FOUR video cards. While this may not exactly be the making of a mainstream computer system, you can bet green team isn't happy about it. As you may have guessed by the naming convention, this product is basically an Xpress 3200 x 2. There are a total of 4 (count them!) PCI-E x16 slots. We know that ATI plans to allow some high-end video cards to enter Crossfire mode without use of the dongle on the Xpress 3200 with an upcoming driver release, but we are unsure at this point whether we will see 4x dongle-free Crossfire. I think it's doable, but we'll surely find out more details in the near future. While the embargo is lifting today, there is no word yet on when these motherboard will become available. However, my guess is that they will become available on the 31st of this month. Izvor: Tech Lounge |

The first chip, the RV560, features eight ROP units and is capable of pushing out eight pixels per clock, which is double the number of the current X1600 (RV530). The number of Pixel Shader ALUs (arithmetical logical units) will also get a boost, and the RV560 will feature 24 of them, with four Vertex Shader units. The number of Texture Memory Units (TMU's) has also been raised from four to eight, since there is no logical reason to have fewer textures than pixels per clock. The second chip, the RV570 will truly be a mainstream monster, which should give Nvidia a headache. The chip is scheduled to have 12 ROP and 12 units (12 pixel/textures per clock), 36 Pixel Shader ALU's and six Vertex Shaders. Clock speeds are not defined, but you can expect 650 or even a 700MHz GPU clock for the X1700XT part. It all depends on yields. ATI's 80 nanometre mainstream parts are almost certain to be named X1700, although we have no confirmation about the suffixes used for two different chips. We know that two RV570 based models are likely to be named X1700XL and X1700XT, while the RV560 will find itself in the X1700Pro range. Unless the company pulls out an X1500 moniker to differentiate the two - and it would be interesting to see X1500 outperforming X1600 by a mile. At the same time, X1300 will occupy the low-end, and the X1600 should slowly fade away to leave room for different clocked RV560/570 parts. Inq |

Woohoo... ako ovo bude ovako, cak mi se i RV560 cini kao jaaako mocna stvarcica. A o RV570 da i ne pricamo. Sweet. Bude zanimljivo.

Mene to nist pretjerano ne uzbudje, to je sve logicki i ocekivano... stvari polaku sjedaju na mjesto za nas krajnje kupce... a vjerujem da ce r600 biti prava zvjer, pogotovo ako stave ddr4.. |

We learned that ATI has two more R580 cards around the corner. We already spoke about the X1900 GTO cards that are scheduled for April and now we learned that ATI has X1900 XL. This card is meant to fight Geforce 7900 GT, as this card can really outperform even X1800 XT cards. We still don’t know the clock speeds, but we suspect around a 500MHz plus core clock. At the end of the day it has to end up faster than X1800 XT and 7900 GT. We can also confirm that the card uses a single cooler and won’t look anything different than the Radeon X1800 XL. But it has to end up faster. Izvor: Inquirer |

ATi has decided to combine two Gemini boards that feature two R590 chips each. You're reading it right, we're talking about dual R590 boards working together, or a Quad GPU powered ATI product. The final physical design is far from being completed but ATI's Gemini X1600 is a concept where two chips fit on a single PCB. However, in order to create room for two 256 bit memory interface and quadrupled power consumption and heat dissipation - you need to be very creative. Enter creative engineering. When it comes to the software side, ATi will have an easier ride. Since first dual ATi Crossfire originally used a tiling system, there is no problem for ATi to make four GPU configurations - each GPU will just render its own tile and SuperTiling mode can work right away. For Alternate Frame Rendering (AFR) and Split Frame Rendering (SFR), more work needs to be done, but you can be sure of one thing. It is coming. Izvor: Inquirer |
