Dok se nisam žalio, standby je funkcionirao na način da sam nakon kakvih 7-10 buđenja počeo viđati sitne neke mušice, pa onda bih napravio jedan upgrade i reboot/shutdown.

U zadnjih tjedan dana standby je apsolutna katastrofa Već nakon 2-3 buđenja problemi. Malo prije kada sam se vratio na desktop sve aplikaciju su bile vizualno s*ebane, izgledale su kao da VRAM spali pa dobiješ onu rešetku na ekranu. Sam DE generira bez problema, ali tray i sve aplikacije banana. Tako da sam odmah jedan upgrade napravio (konsole npr nije bio zahvaćen) i reboot, gdje je trebalo skoro dvije minute da se spusti. Nakon svježeg boota sve 5.

Ponekad je jednostavno bolje šutjeti i uživati u sitnim problemima nego progovoriti pa da te napadne 100 sranja.

Neznam dal bi se drugi Login Manager + DE bolje ponasao al necu ti buditi nadu posto isto tako u tom segmentu imam gorka iskustva. Izbacio sam Sleep i Hibernaciju iz upotrebe i ne razmisljam vise o tome.

Znači čisto shutdown?

Meni zaista hibernate nikad problema nije zadavao.
Naravno koristeci swap particiju, ne file.

File me prca stalno.

Na kraju je bio reboot, ne shutdown, ali u biti isto što se tiče gašenja.

A kako uključiti hibernate? Malo sam čačkao ali nisam našao nikakve opcije za sleep.

tužno, ali istinito.
mislim da su dani diskretnih grafičkih iza mene

Prije 10 godina sam iskrcao 45€ za AMD HD5450 da bi imao H.264 dekoder jer je 785G chipset to jako loše radio.

Prije 5 godina sam iskrcao 80€ za GF1030 da bi imao HW dekodiran HEVC i VP9.

Danas moraš iskrcati 200€+ za GF 3050 koja dekodira AV1

Ništa od navedenog nema HW encoder pa za transkodiranje treba iskrcati još više love osim za 3050 ali ta nema AV1 enkoder…

A jedan Intel N100 za manje od 150€ dekodiranje i transkodiranje s vrlo malom potrošnjom…

Nvidia's new R555 Linux driver series has significantly improved their open-source GPU kernel driver modules, achieving near parity with their proprietary drivers. Phoronix's Michael Larabel reports: The NVIDIA open-source kernel driver modules shipped by their driver installer and also available via their GitHub repository are in great shape. With the R555 series the support and performance is basically at parity of their open-source kernel modules compared to their proprietary kernel drivers. [...] Across a range of different GPU-accelerated creator workloads, the performance of the open-source NVIDIA kernel modules matched that of the proprietary driver. No loss in performance going the open-source kernel driver route. Across various professional graphics workloads, both the NVIDIA RTX A2000 and A4000 graphics cards were also achieving the same performance whether on the open-source MIT/GPLv2 driver or using NVIDIA's classic proprietary driver.

Across all of the tests I carried out using the NVIDIA 555 stable series Linux driver, the open-source NVIDIA kernel modules were able to achieve the same performance as the classic proprietary driver. Also important is that there was no increased power use or other difference in power management when switching over to the open-source NVIDIA kernel modules.

It's great seeing how far the NVIDIA open-source kernel modules have evolved and that with the upcoming NVIDIA 560 Linux driver series they will be defaulting to them on supported GPUs. And moving forward with Blackwell and beyond, NVIDIA is just enabling the GPU support along their open-source kernel drivers with leaving the proprietary kernel drivers to older hardware. Tests I have done using NVIDIA GeForce RTX 40 graphics cards with Linux gaming workloads between the MIT/GPL and proprietary kernel drivers have yielded similar (boring but good) results: the same performance being achieved with no loss going the open-source route. Iz fore instalirao u virtualki Mint 22.
Što je zanimljivo skrši se na loginu i to prođe iz 2. ili 3. pokušaja, nekako na random.
Puštam ih da još malo žganci pojedu i skockaju to, tamo negdje do 22.3 će valjda raditi
Moš mislit kako bi nekakav upgrade prošao
Općenito, primjećujem trend na ovim ubuntu baziranim home distrama da upgrade u pravilu ne radi
Ostavljam mogućnost da je zbog vboxa, ali dosad nije bilo takvih problema niti s mintom, a vrtio sam unutra svašta od archa do fedore 40.

Ja nemam tih problema. Na Mintu 21.2 vrtim 22 da vidim dali je vrijedan upgrade. Istina ja to vrtim na qemu/kvm VM. Mene je vbox stalno zezao, najčešće sa rezolucijim ekrana. Niie imao na izbor klasičnih 1920x1080 već sam morao instalirati neke dodatke. Evo već godinu da qemu guta sve. Radi kroz GUI od Virtual machine managera.
22ojka ma nekih mušica pa možda 22.2 bude dobar. Cinnamon mi je legao pa nikako ne mogu smisliti drugi DE.

VirtualBox 7.0.18, Linux Mint 21.3 upgrade na 22.

Najvise glavobolje kod upgrejda po mom iskustvu rade sustavi automatizacije ali tu sam imao probleme sporadicno sa svim glavnim distrama. Zato sam uvijek preferirao "vanilla" distribucije. Virtualbox vec duuugo nisam dirao....pokraj KVM-a (+Virt-Manager/Cokpit) mi jednostavno nema smisla ista drugo koristiti .

Da, ima svega, ali za Mint, Ubuntu i Fedoru, bilo kroz VM, bilo na konkretnom hardveru već godinama samo pustim upgrade kroz njihove nativne alate i prođe bez problema.

Kod mene je 7.0.14, nakon toga zaključno sa .18 su svi zbugirani i rade probleme na hostu s kernelom 6.5 naviše i USB uređajima. Prema changelogu .20 to su popravili, ali ostaje za provjeriti tko je hrabar

Jel tko probao upgrade s 21.3 na 22 na desktopu nekom, ne VM?
Premalo novosti da bi išao trošiti disk ili particiju na friško ispečeni Mint

Kad već spominjete Linux Mint, nakon zadnjeg LMDE 6 (radi jako dobro što kod prijašnjih verzija nije bio slučaj) ne vidim više smisao guranja LM baziranog na Ubuntuu i još sa tri DE-a jer je to trošenje ionako ograničenih resursa koje imaju.

Kad već spominjete Linux Mint, nakon zadnjeg LMDE 6 (radi jako dobro što kod prijašnjih verzija nije bio slučaj) ne vidim više smisao guranja LM baziranog na Ubuntuu i još sa tri DE-a jer je to trošenje ionako ograničenih resursa koje imaju.

Mozda se bas zato zasad jos drze Ubuntu jezgre primarno. Al dugorocno - Debian kao baza je po meni bolja investicija vremena.

Imaju oni u planu prebaciti se skroz na debian bazu, ali nije tako jednostavno. Ubuntu još uvijek radi dosta posla, treba imati ljude za to.
Ionako je čudo koliko posla Mint ekipa odrađuje.

Usput, riješen problem s vm i mint 22 xfce... jedan klik, trebalo je uključiti 3D akceleraciju u vboxu. Zašto mu to sada smeta, a ranije verzije uredno rade bez toga ostaje misterija, ali definitivno je na strani mint paketa (xorg,xfce,...). Nebitno. Za dev kantu mi se ne žuri uopće, a laptopi i ostalo će dobiti upg negdje oko 22.3 verzije kad mintovci ispeglaju što se pojavi po putu

Ima koja distra 6.9+ kernel?
Zadnje kad sam gledao fedora 40 je isto bila na 6.8.
Imam u laptopu wifi adapter koji bi punu podršku trebao dobiti tek u 6.9 kernelu

Kad sam gledao što poslije Ubuntua, mislio sam Slackware ali sam odustao i prešao na Debian.

Mada koketiram još sa drugim distrama za test ali Debian u srcu

Ja sam se neckao, ali onda sam procitao da moram maknuti nVidia DKMS pakete, napraviti upgrade pa ih vratiti, a taj luksuz s Quadroicama i BlueField2 mi se nije prolazio jos...
