Bis zum Jahr 1976, als zwei Ingenieurstudenten den ersten Personal Computer (PC) zusammen löteten, gab es nur Großrechnersysteme, die nicht für eine einzige Person arbeitete. Im Jahr 1976 gründeten sie, mangels Interesse in der Industrie, die Firma Apple. In den Jahren darauf brachten weitere Firmen aus der Halbleiterindustrie eigene Entwicklungen heraus.
Im Jahr 1981, als IBM den eigenen Personal Computer vorstellte, bekam die Computertechnik die Aufmerksamkeit, die sie für den Durchbruch auf den Markt benötigte. Der IBM PC enthielt einen Prozessor von Intel und das Betriebssystem von Microsoft. Damit war nicht nur der PC geboren, sondern gleichzeitig auch ein Industrie-Standard gesetzt.
In keinem anderen Industriezweig haben sich die technischen Leistungen so schnell entwickelt und gleichzeitig der Preis so schnell gesenkt.

do 1976 godine,dok su dva inžinjrska studenta spojili prvo osobno racunalo PC bilo je samo velikih sistema(ovo se ne moze bas prevesti na hrvatski Großrechnersysteme) koji nisu radili samo za jednu osou.
godine 1976 osnovali su firmu aplle.u nadolazecoj godini iz te firme proizrasle su još neke
godine 1981 kad je IBM svoje osobno računalo predstavilo,kompjuterska tehnika dobila je pozornosti koju je trebala da se na trzistu probije ostane
IBM-emov PC imao je procesor od intela i sistem od microsofta
s time nije bio samo PC roden vec i jedna cijela industrijska standardizacija postavljena
u nijednoj industrijskoj grani se tehnički napredci nisu tako brzo razvili i cijena tako brzo pala
