AMD Zen 5c CCDs made on more advanced 3nm node than Zen 5
Citiraj:
AMD is reportedly building its upcoming Zen 5 and Zen 5c CPU Core Dies (CCDs) on two different foundry nodes. The Zen 5 CCD powering the upcoming Ryzen "Granite Ridge" desktop processors, "Fire Range" mobile processors, and EPYC "Turin" server processors, will be reportedly built on the 4nm EUV foundry node, a slightly more advanced node than the current 5nm EUV the company is building Zen 4 CCDs on. The Zen 5c CCD, or the chiplet with purely Zen 5c cores in a high density configuration; on the other hand, will be built on an even more advanced 3nm EUV foundry node. Both CCDs will go into mass production in Q2-2024, with product launches expected across the second half of the year.

The Zen 5c chiplet has a mammoth 32 cores spread across two CCXs of 16 cores, each. Each CCX has 16 cores sharing a 32MB L3 cache. It is to cram these 32 cores, each with 1MB of L2 cache; and a total of 64MB of L3 cache, that AMD could be turning to the 3nm foundry node. Another reason could be voltages. If Zen 4c is anything to go by, the Zen 5c core is a highly compacted variant of Zen 5, which operates at a lower voltage band than its larger sibling, without any change in IPC or instruction sets. The decision to go with 3nm could be a move aimed at increasing clock speeds at those lower voltages, in a bid to generationally improve performance using clock speeds, besides IPC and core count. The EPYC processor with Zen 5c chiplets will feature no more than six such large CCDs, for a maximum core count of 192. The regular Zen 5 CCD has just 8 cores in a single CCX, with 32 MB of L3 cache shared among the cores; and TSV provision for 3D Vertical Cache, to increase the L3 cache in special variants.

Cisto FYI...ako planirate kupiti AMD Proc - kupujte dok ih jos ima:

Citiraj:
Here we go again: The supply of AMD Radeon graphics cards was already tight, with demand surging in China. Still, with Bitcoin and Ethereum skyrocketing, crypto miners have gone into overdrive, buying up all the stock. The demand will be even worse when Zen 5 comes to market since they are rumored to offer twice the AVX512 performance of Zen 4.

Ok, ne razumijem zašto bi bitcoin ili ethereum uzrokovao nestašicu AMD procesora. Jedno nema veze s drugim.

Osim ako su se svi obogatili pa kupuju nova računala.

Edit: Kao što rekoh, nemaju veze s time. Pročitao članak, jedva su spomenuli da je to mining nekog Qubic šhitkojna koji naravno ima AI u opisu.
Prvi glas.

Izgleda da je taj Qubic nova Chia.
Citiraj:
7950X is the king in Qubic mining. Bitcoin is now north of $72,000, and is dragging up the value of several other cryptocurrencies, one such being Qubic (QBIC). Profitability calculators put 24 hours of Qubic mining on an AMD Ryzen 9 7950X 16-core processor at around $3, after subtracting energy costs involved in running the chip at its default 170 W TDP. "Zen 4" processors such as the 7950X tend to retain much of their performance with slight underclocking, and reducing their power limits; which is bound to hold or increase profitability, while also prolonging the life of the hardware.

CPU-based cryptocurrency miners, including the QBIC miner, appear to be taking advantage of the AVX-512 instruction set. AMD "Zen 4" microarchitecture supports AVX-512 through its dual-pumped 256-bit FPU, and the upcoming "Zen 5" microarchitecture is rumored to double AVX-512 performance over "Zen 4." Meanwhile, Intel has deprecated what few client-relevant AVX-512 instructions its Core processors had since 12th Gen "Alder Lake," as it reportedly affected sales of Xeon processors.

AMD reveals Strix Point details: Zen 5 cores, RDNA 3+ and tripled NPU performance
Citiraj:
Information about AMD's next mobile processor, Strix Point, has been coming to the market in drips, either through leaks or comments by executives. Dr. Lisa Su, AMD's chief executive officer, said at the company's fourth quarter earnings report that the series will make the leap to the next-generation Zen 5 CPU core architecture - a significant step forward in AMD's processor technology.

Su added that Strix Point is expected to deliver more than three times the AI performance of the Ryzen 7040 series processors. We know it will feature enhanced RDNA graphics and an updated Ryzen AI engine designed to significantly increase the performance, energy efficiency and AI capabilities of PCs. We also know that it has a shipment date of 2024. What we weren't clear about, at least officially, was the GPU architecture. The company shared this information, along with further details about Strix Point, at its recent Beijing AI PC Innovation Summit, where it introduced the Ryzen 'Hawk Point' 8040 series. It also gave the audience a preview of its AI PC ecosystem plans, disclosing that the Strix Point chips will include RDNA 3+ and XDNA 2 processing.

Su, who was present on the stage along with other AMD executives, explained that RDNA 3+ represents an evolution of the RDNA 3 architecture, intended to enhance rather than replace the upcoming RDNA 4 GPU architecture. RDNA 3+, also called RDNA 3.5, is no stranger to the market as it has been showing up in patches for a while. To deliver Su's promised three times improvement in generative-AI capabilities, Strix Point APUs will embed the latest XDNA 2 NPUs and a far more robust Ryzen AI software suite, executives said. This new NPU will triple the performance of a current-gen XDNA NPU, delivering over 70 total TOPS. For comparison, the AMD Ryzen 8040 series has 16 NPU TOPS for 39 total TOPS. Strix Point should also beat out competitors in this category, with Intel's Core Ultra series delivering up to 34 TOPS and Qualcomm's upcoming Snapdragon X Elite chips featuring 45 TOPS.
