Pozz ekipo zanima me kako prepoznati prilikom kupnje 920-ke koja je verzija ?
Koje sve verzije imaju ( ja znam za D0 , G0 ) , koja je bolja i zasto..

Postoji tri steppinga, odnosno dva steppinga u opticaju trenutno. Prvi su bili inžinjerski primjerci - B0 kojih praktički nije bilo u retail prodaji. Drugi su "noviji" C0, te treći, posljednji, su D0. Nema nikakvog G0 steppinga kod ovih procesora. To su bili steppinzi korišteni za označavanje pojedinih 65nm procesora prošle generacije.

i7 920 C0 nosi oznaku SLBCH, dok D0 nosi oznaku SLBEJ. D0 su bolji primjerci i u pravilu se bolje clockaju, pa njih trebaš tražiti. Također, Xeoni W3520 su svi D0 primjerci, to su serverske verzije 920 procesora.

Razlika je u nijansama, možda je 920-ka i brža ako imaš RAM u Triple Channel modu..

Mobile Core i7 could be faster than Core 2 Extreme

'Very soon Intel's Core i7 four-core parts for notebooks tagged under codename Clarksfield could should be much faster (clock-for clock) compared to their existing Core 2 Quad counterparts based on tests published today.

Electronista reports that although normally clocked at just 1.73GHz, the mid-range Core i7-820QM is seen in PCPro benchmarks often coming close to, matching or outperforming the 2.53GHz Core 2 Extreme that costs significantly more than the expected $750 for the newer chip.

The edge comes despite extra handicaps on the test system versus the Dell M6400 Covet used for comparison, as the Core i7 system had just half the RAM (4GB), a slower-spinning 5,400RPM hard drive and a more mainstream GeForce GT 240M graphics chip versus the workstation-grade Quadro FX 3700M in the older PC.

At the same time, the 1.73GHz processor is also much more efficient and consumes roughly half of the power of the slower-still 2GHz Core 2 Quad with a full workload. The draw is still too high for thin-and-light notebooks but, at 74W, would make it more suitable for notebooks smaller than the 17-inch Dell model.

Most of the speed jump is attributed to Turbo Boost, a feature present in all Core i3, i5 and i7 parts that improves the performance of certain tasks by dynamically shutting down unused cores and increasing the clock speed of the remaining cores. The i7-820QM runs as quickly as 3.06GHz in this mode. Hyperthreading also provides a benefit by supporting two tasks on each core, potentially supporting eight tasks at once on a quad-core chip.

Intel could launch mobile Core i7 as early as next week with 1.6GHz and 2GHz versions joining the newly tested model. Arrandale, the dual-core variant most likely to reach much thinner and less expensive notebooks, may not arrive until late this year or early in 2010.'

Nehalem goes mobile with new Core i7 processors

Mobile users, rejoice. Intel has officially introduced Core i7 quad-core processors geared specifically for notebooks. The three new chips are based on Clarksfield silicon, the mobile variant of the Lynnfield design that powers desktop-bound Core i5 and i7-800 CPUs.



Like Lynnfield, the new mobile Core i7s support dual-channel DDR3-1333 memory and have 16 lanes of PCI Express 2.0 connectivity right on the CPU die. They're also accompanied by a single-chip chipset, in this case the PM55 Express.

Another similarity between Lynnfield and Clarksfield is the presence of Turbo Boost, which can dramatically ramp up the speed of an individual core if its brethren are sitting idle. Here, Turbo Boost can propel the Core i7-920XM's cores all the way from 2GHz to a blistering 3.2GHz. That's the same top Turbo speed as the desktop Core i5-750. Unlike the i5, though, all three mobile Core i7s have Hyper-Threading enabled.

You can expect to see Core i7-powered laptops from Asus, Dell, HP, and Toshiba; Intel says all of those firms have designs shipping today. And more are to come. Smaller companies like Eurocom have already announced Clarksfield notebooks, too. We also have a Clevo unit in-house for testing. Expect a review of that system soon.

Intel Core i7-930 arriving Q1 2010

Intel may be set to discontinue its excellent Core i7-920 chip within the next few months, but we've just heard confirmation that its replacement will arrive in Q1 2010.

It'll be called the Core i7-930.

At 2.88GHz it'll be a drop-in quad-core, eight thread upgrade for current LGA 1366 motherboards, although we're yet to find out whether this will be a 45nm or 32nm part.

We've also heard prices are likely to be comparable to the current Core i7-920 too, meaning that those LGA 1156 Core i7-860s and 870s will still have to drop in price considerably to become attractive for UK buyers. If you're planning an upgrade, we'd still advise LGA 1366 as the route to take.
