Intel teases 6 GHz Raptor Lake at stock, 8 GHz overclocking World Record

We're here in Israel for Intel's Technology Tour 2022, where the company is sharing new information about its latest products, much of it under embargo until a later date. However, the company did share a slide touting that Raptor Lake is capable of operating at 6GHz at stock settings and that it has set a world overclocking record at 8GHz - obviously with liquid nitrogen. Intel also shared impressive performance projections for single- and multi-thread performance. Notably, the peak of 6GHz is 300 MHz faster than the 5.7GHz for AMD's Ryzen 7000 processors, but Intel hasn't announced which product will hit that peak speed. We also aren't sure if a 6GHz chip will arrive with the first wave of chips or be a special edition 'KS' model. Intel also claimed that Raptor Lake will have a 15% gain in single-threaded performance and a 41% gain in multi-threaded, as measured by SPECintrate_2017 and compared to Alder Lake, and an overall '40% performance scaling.' The Israel Development Center (IDC) has been the design engine behind a long line of Intel products spanning back to the 8088 that started it all back in 1979. That lineup spans until today, encompassing well-known names like Pentium MXX, Banias, Sandy Bridge, and many others.

Intel confirms that Raptor Lake was not originally part of their CPU roadmap

At the company's Tech Tour press event, Intel confirmed that Raptor Lake was not originally part of the company's product roadmap, with its inception coming less than two years ago when Intel knew that there would be a long gap between Alder Lake and Meteor Lake. Intel's Meteor Lake processors will utilise more complex manufacturing techniques, being a multi-chiplet design that uses multiple lithography nodes and the company's Foveros Die Interconnect (FDI) technology. Originally, Intel planned to release Meteor Lake as a successor to Alder Lake, but when timelines for Meteor Lake stretched out, Intel decided to create Raptor Lake, a design that required minimal resources to create, but could deliver compelling performance gains over Alder Lake. Meteor Lake should have been Intel's 13th Generation series of Core processors, now 13th Gen is Raptor Lake.

With Raptor Lake, Intel has avoided leaving a gap in their product roadmap that their competitors could exploit. Using multiple design enhancements, Raptor Lake can deliver higher clock speeds and increased IPC while retaining core designs that are very similar to their Alder Lake counterparts. With Raptor Lake, Intel is delivering more than a standard CPU refresh, but less than we would expect from a full core redesign. In a sense, Raptor Lake is a highly polished version of Alder Lake, offering users more L2/L3 cache, additional E-cores to boost multi-threading performance, and higher core clock speeds to boost single-threaded and multi-threaded performance. Fundamentally, Raptor Lake is simply a refined version of Alder Lake, but that has not stopped Intel from delivering significant performance gains.

First review of retail Intel Core i9-13900K “Raptor Lake” CPU emerges


TLDR;

13900k compared to 12900k:

~12% higher ST / gaming performance
~ 42% higher MT performance at "unlimited mode"
Power usage have increased from 236w to 343w to reach performance numbers above (so 45% more power usage for 42% higher MT performance)
P-core IPC increase is basically nothing ~1-3%
E-core IPC increase is ~6%
Most of performance increase comes from higher clockspeeds

Ovisno o modelu sad imaju 75% do 100% više manjih šparnih E-jezgri uz više taktove, zagrijavanje i potrošnju, ali na kraju se sve svodi na porast od kakvih 40% MT performansi.

jedan test sa oba na 5 ghz pa ćemo vidjet razliku mislim na 12900k i 13900k,i ostale.

hmhm,i ovu generaciju preskočit mislim na intel,uzet amd,čekat meteor lake,ako možda kupim rtx 3080 upogonit ću je sa i5 4670k.

IMHO takvi testovi budu samo dodatno potvrdili da je Raptor Lake osvježeni Alder Lake, te da konkrentog pomaka u arhitekturi nije bilo, pa su tu zato manje jezgre u duplo većem broju uz još više radne taktove, potrošnju i zagrijavanje.

E da, kaj su kupnje tiče, pa tebi je sad idealna prilika za neki Zen 3 ili Intel ekvivalent, da se ne patiš s Core i5-4670K + RTX 3080. Ne moraš uopće ovo novo gledati, jer i još aktualne generacije budu ti fini skok.

Kakva je situacija 12500 vs 13500? Vidim da su i u njega natovarili hrpu jezgri? Radi li na taj nacin bolje sa win11? Ili ce i kod njega biti bolji samo mt?

Prepakirani Alder Lake tak da bude sigurno radilo s Windows 11 OS + B660 kombinacijom, a na temelju manjih jezgri budu i performanse išle gore gdje god je moguće.
