Mali update: Upcoming core logic company ULi may be NVIDIA's newest addition, but the company still has an ace or two it hasn't shown Several weeks ago we reported that ASRock's newest ULi based motherboards were not going to get SLI support, even though NVIDIA had recently purchased ULi. Last night, several websites started posting direct downloads to a driver patch issued by ULi that actually patches current NVIDIA drivers force Detonator into thinking the M1697 Northbridge is an "SLI-ready" core logic. The driver detects if you are running a ULi based motherboard, and then patches the Detonator drivers into thinking SLI should work correctly. If a ULi chipset is not detected, the utility will quit out with the message "ULi Chipset Not Found !!" Getting the driver to work with other chipsets is probably just a matter of playing with a few registry values. The utility claims that it only enables "ULi PowerExpress Engine," but the end effect seems to be that SLI support appears in the Detonator control panel. Intel, SiS, VIA and ATI opted out of paying the NVIDIA license fee for SLI. ULi never reportedly paid for the SLI license either, but now that ULi technically is NVIDIA, any sort of licensing should be moot. Izvor: dailytech |
