I will not talk about BF3 the game, but there are already some differences in the networking middleware that it uses:
- The schemas are redesigned. Each game designs their own and even the default layout for schemas there is a bit better.
- The DB uses MySQL. Not sure if that is better or worse.
- There are people on the BF3 game team who have solid experience of how to do load testing, and they are familiar with the whys and hows of BC2's problems. BC2 didn't have enough load testing before launch.
