Evo momci malo tračeva o novom Phenomu II. Onako, par postova što sam uspio uhvatiti. Naravno, sve uzmite sa rezervom jer se radi o informacijama koje idu usmenom predajom (jer NDA je još uvijek aktivan).

Malo o Preview-u Dragon platforme o kojoj je fordam gore pisao:
Team Finland Phenom II @ 6+Ghz (ekstremno hlađenje)

Ono što je najvažnije:

- All the Phenom II X4 CPUs me and SF3D tested had no cold bug at all
- All the chips we tested could do +6,1 GHz CPU-Z
- We tested with AMD's 790GX reference board and Gigabyte's retail 790GX
- Both mobos worked fine under cold, +6 GHz and +1,95V vcore
- Vcore ~1,95V was optimal for +6 GHz clocks
- 3DMark05 & 06 CPU-tests were ok @ 6 GHz
- We were able to run Crysis @ 6,1 GHz (2 loops CPU-test)
- Max CPU-Z screenshot and validation we got with 4 cores was 6280 MHz (no dirty tricks)
- With air cooling (Cooler Master Z600) highest we got Crysis stable was @ 4,13 GHz (1,58 V)

Uglavnom, imali su jako malo vremena za zračno hlađenje (pola sata za isprobat 5 proceva) tako da se taj dio uzima sa rezervom. Vjerojatno su napucali napon koliko ide pa šta bude-bude. Testovi su bili na 1.9+V za tekuži dušik. Matične su bile dvije, od AMD-a neka referentna sa Vcore volt modom te Gigabyte-ova matična sa SB750 (nisam siguran jel FX790 ili GX790, ali SB750 je bio). Druga stvar je što svi spominju da SB750, odnosno ACC ne radi/pomaže kod OC-a Phenoma II. Jel zbog BIOS-a ili samog CPU-a, pojma nemam.

Drugo, NDA zabranjuje postanje rezultata, no čisto da se dobije neka predodžba koliki napon će trebati za koje frekvencije:

Kome se neda gledati, rezultati su otprilike ovakvi (stabilnost je upitna, opet uzmite sve sa rezervom), no ovo su i ES primjerci procesora (retail bi trebali biti isti ili bolji); zračno hlađenje mislim:
Defolt je 3000Mhz i 1.35V
Undervolta - 3300Mhz i 1.32V
OC - 3800Mhz sa 1.44V
OC 2 - 4000Mhz sa 1.5V (SuperPi od 1M je provrtio i sa 1.44V ako nekome to nešta znači).

I zadnje, oni koji su bili na tom Dragon eventu, par zanimljivih izjava:

Chew and I both spent some time overclocking a couple of Phenom II systems using overdrive and I have to say I was fairly impressed. One system we had did 3.7 with less than 1.5v on stock cooler...and as he said, temps were very low (around 45c under load).

One such story was about the discovery that the cold bug had been abolished by one of their lab engineers. The excitement and relief were both palpable in Matt's tone when he described the moment when he first heard this; again illustrating the serious effort AMD had been putting into Phenom II to improve it from it's successor.

Lastly, it's important to mention that in the Core i7 965 system vs Phenom II 940 BE Crysis comparison, I was able to verify that both systems were running the exact same graphical settings, with the same cards. Phenom II had 4GB of ram, dual channel while the Core i7 had 3GB in triple channel on an X58 Intel reference board. The Phenom II had higher frame rates throughout the majority of the gameplay.
