Cannonlake nije nova uArch, već modifikacija Skylakea na 10 nm proizvodnom procesu.
Intelov tick tock sad to više i nije, već se 3 godine fura ista uArch s malim poboljšanjima i prijelazom na novi proizvodni proces.

While Cannonlake will be designed on a completely new node, most of its DNA would be taken from the Kaby Lake generation of processors as its a Tick. The 10nm process will really start to show its prowess in 2018 with the Ice Lake generation of processors which will be using a brand new microarchitecture, further ensuring the IPC lead and efficiency gains on the smaller node. We don’t really know much about Ice Lake right now but the previous reports suggest that it will be incorporating theFIVR*(Fully Integrated Voltage Regulation) modules which were excluded from Skylake and Kaby Lake processors.*

Jedino što bi možda moglo biti zanimljivo kod cannonlakea je što se od ranije spominjao potencijalni core/thread bump, a kasnije i da će paralelno postojati neka serija (cofee lake?) sa 6 jezgri na mainstream socketu. Ali to je sve zasad na razinama glasina
Već je sada izvjesno da 10nm neće doći 2017, nego će se vjerojatno odgoditi za Q1 2018 i to ako ne bude problema.
