The RS690 Core consists of a modified version of the Radeon X700LE. Code named X1250, the chip runs at a core clock of 400MHz, and has 4 pixel shaders instead of the original 8 found on the X700 core. Like all onboard graphics, the X1250 core shares system memory as with graphics memory, with an option to allow up to 1GB of system memory to be utilised as graphics memory.

ATI AVIVO has been implemented into the X1250 core as it is missing from the original X700 chip. With this implementation and with die size and production costs at bay, ATI has also removed all the vertex shader units present onboard from the original 6 present. With this, All vertex shader operations will be placed on the CPU instead.
