Firstly, let me start off by saying what was more of a joke was the review itself!
The TRUE successor to the 7600GT is the 8600GTS, a much more powerful card clocked at 675MHz core, 2000MHz memory. The 7600GT was at top end of the old Nvidia midrange, and you should have only compared it to its new equivalent, the 8600GTS, instead of its namesake the GT.
Compared with the 7600GT, the 8600GTS holds its own. Probably not enough to warrant an upgrade, but a fair bit faster nonetheless. I don't mean to be rash, but take a look at some of the other 8600GTS reviews for a comparison and you'll find your answer.
And FIY the 8600GT's memory clock is 1.4GHz, the same as the 7600GT, which is why it has the same memory bandwidth.
A more apples to apples comparison is more appropriate next time maybe? |
