Matrox Graphics Prepares New 90nm Graphics Chip
Matrox Graphics, a developer of graphics processing units for niche markets, is reportedly developing a graphics processing unit made using 90nm process technology.
It is unclear whether the company is developing a Microsoft Windows Vista-compatible graphics accelerator.
Mosaid Memorize, a memory controller development firm, said that Matrox Graphics would incorporate DDR IP (intellectual property) memory interface and controller product “into future Matrox Graphics 90nm professional graphics controllers”.
Currently Matrox Graphics processors do not support Microsoft DirectX Shader Model 2.0, which is why cannot comply with Windows Vista premium requirements. Even though Matrox has never announced a significant update to its Parhelia graphics chip announced in 2002, it is very likely that the company has been working on a more advanced chip.
Mosaid’s complete solution allowed us to reduce risk and time to market through the use of proven third party IP, allowing us to complement our own memory interface specialists and tape out more products in a shorter period of time”.
Supporting data rates up to 1066MHz, Mosaid Memorize memory interface and controller IP is silicon proven and available now for leading foundry processes targeting 130nm and 90nm CMOS technologies.
