nVidia is readying her new family of MCP61 integrated graphics chipsets. Dailytech recieved finalized specifications of the new chipsets that will not replace the current GeForce 6100/6150 integrated chipsets. The new MCP61-chipset is a single chip design, and this will offer mainboard vendors the opportunity of designing more compact and cost-effective motherboards.

There will be three variants of the MCP61 family. The MCP61P is the high-end product, that will feature support for one PCI-Express x16 slot, two PCI-Expres x1 slots, gigabit Ethernet, 10x USB 2.0, 4x SATA 300 with RAID 0,1,0+1. This chipset also offfers DVI, component and TV-Out (SD). The MCP61S is a bit cheaper, but offers only PCI-Express x8, only 2x SATA 300, 10/100 Ethernet and 8x USB 2.0. The value edtion MCP61V will lack a slot for a graphcs card.

The integrated GPU will be based on the GeForce 7-series and but the support for nVidia's PureVideo technology will be removed. nVidia is positioning the new MCP61-based chipsets below the current GeForce 6100/6150. It is expected the new MCP61 is fully compliant with Windows Vista and it's Aero glass desktop. The new MCP61S and MCP61V are expected to ship in Q3'06, the MCP61P will follow in Q4'06.
