I call bullshit (they are French, after all) but still an entertaining read none-the-less.

Using RMA rate as a statistic is flawed for many reasons.

From my experience as an RMA/RTV person, this is why I think the numbers are B.S.:

1. The more popular items had a higher percentage of RMA's because more "noobs" would buy "Antec", for example, over "Hiper" because they've heard of Antec and not Hiper.

2. Most retailers don't test their RMA's. None test all of their RMA's. So if you have a particular unit that does a high volume, and therefore has a high volume of RMA's, there's bound to also be a higher percentage of RTV (return to vendor) because the product simply doesn't get tested.

3. Some companies are more willing to accept untested RTV's than others. For example: Biostar used to have a "just send it back" policy (until Newegg abused it, which is how they ended up with all of those open box Biostar boards a while back) and would take back almost anything for any reason and would gladly replace it with another unit. Unfortunately, this practive makes RMA unusually high.
