Sve bude OK, preCednik slobodnog svijeta (inače John Gotti LARPing entuzijast) i (još uvijek aktualni) Intel direktor su uspjeli nešto dogovoriti.

Jedino nema govora o tome da li je preCednik upoznat činjenicom da Intel koristi TSMC usluge za svoje čipove iz domaće proizvodnje.

Intel issued an official statement, saying that "Earlier today, Mr. Tan had the honor of meeting with President Trump for a candid and constructive discussion on Intel's commitment to strengthening U.S. technology and manufacturing leadership. We appreciate the President's strong leadership to advance these critical priorities and look forward to working closely with him and his Administration as we restore this great American company." What the company hopes is that under Mr. Tan, Intel can continue building on a fab legacy left by the previous CEO Pat Gelsinger, and that customers will start piling up for the 18A and 14A nodes.

While the 18A node showed little interest for external customers, Intel plans to use it extensively across its product lines. For 14A, Intel has decided to switch its approach and evaluate if customers want to utilize it first, then build more 14A capacity. If no customers show up, low demand will naturally hinder the development of leading-edge nodes at Intel Foundry. So we have to wait and see what kind of actions now follow from the fact that Intel is now in the spotlight of national interest due to the Trump administration. Perhaps in the future Intel will continue leading-edge node development unconditionally, and we will see much deeper connections to U.S. companies. There are already reports of companies like Apple and nVidia evaluating Intel 14A node, so the Foundry could finally catch some momentum.
