AMD uses Zen 5 for high-performance cores and Zen 4 for efficiency cores. Unlike Intel, there does not seem to be a two-pronged strategy in the development of the cores, and at most the slightly older ones are then trimmed to efficiency by operating at a different point of the voltage/frequency curve. One advantage of using the same basic microarchitectures is that they master a fairly similar if not identical scope of command set extensions.

Obzirom da je cijela Zen arhitektura već sama po sebi dosta energetski učinkovita, te da Zen 4 donosi 20% do 25% viši IPC u odnosu na Zen 3, onda u ovoj kombinaciji, čak i da isključe SMT, opet imaju punokrvne jezgre na raspolaganju.
