Leak provides details on PL1, PL2 and Tau for Rocket Lake-S

Rocket Laks-S is said to be a backport of a µarchitecture actually designed for 10nm (presumably Willow Cove) on the 14nm process. The number of cores should drop back to a maximum of eight. However, the associated platform should also support PCI-Express 4.0 and rely on the LGA-1200, so that almost all motherboard manufacturers also speak of PCIe.4-0 compatibility for their new Z490 mainboards. The mainboards will therefore probably be compatible with Comet Lake-S and Rocket Lake-S. The thermal design power of the eight and six-core models is said to be 95W. As in the current classification, there will be models with a lower TDP, which should have a TDP of 80 and 65 W. Interestingly, the source also lists the data for a PL2. The values here are 251 or 173W and thus in the range of the current Comet Lake S processors (Intel Core i9-10900K, PL1 = 125 W, PL2 = 250 W). The PL2 for the smaller models should be 251, 191, 146W or 251, 177 and 128W. However, the values are not really surprising, because if the Rocket Lake S processors run on existing Z490 mainboards and these are designed for 250+ W, then Intel will certainly want to use this scope. Tau, i.e. the value of how many seconds the PL2 may be present before falling back to PL1, should be in the range of 56 or 28s of what Intel is currently implementing.

U slučaju da se Zen 3 pokaže superioran naspram Willow Cove arhitekturi koju misle iskoristiti za jezgre u Rocket Lake modelima - e onda kaj god da naprave, ne bude dosta. I kaj se tiče jezgri, ne ide više od 8C/16T za Rocket Lake, jer jednostavno nemaju manevraskog prostora, ako žele iole dobar IPC + TDP u kombinaciji s tim famoznim 10nm Xe iGPU-om, kojeg su već morali srezati u odnosu na Ice Lake, jer i tu muku muče, pa ne ide više od 4C/8T kombinacije, ali za laptope. Zato velim, ovo bude potencijalni čušpajz neviđenih razmjera, ako se odluče u istoj polovici godine napraviti rošadu.
