AMD server market share expected to break 10% in 2020
Citiraj:
AMD's second-generation EPYC server processors have landed significant orders from major IT players such as Dell, IBM and Nokia recently, with the chip vendor standing a good chance of gaining more than 10% of the server market by the end of 2020. So far, AMD has obtained an over 5% share of the server market. AMD's second-generation EPYC 7002 series processors, manufactured using Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company's (TSMC) 7nm process, are priced only between US$500-6.950, making them much price-friendlier than their same-grade counterparts from Intel and scoring them orders from several major IT players. AMD has recently announced that Dell's five new EMC PowerEdge systems are powered by AMD's second-generation EPYC CPUs, while France-based Atos has announced Genci is using the CPUs to expand the use of supercomputing for the benefit of French scientific communities. AMD is also cooperating with IBM and Nokia for their solutions featuring the EPYC processors. AMD has also announced a new member, the EPYC 7H12 processor that features 64 cores, 128 threads and 2.6GHz of clock speed, to its second-generation EPYC series family.
