Intel’s 10th Gen ‘Comet Lake’ Desktop CPU Lineup Allegedly Leaks Out

The Intel Core i9-10900KF is rumored to be the flagship SKU of the lineup, featuring 10 cores and 20 threads. Based on the price, it will be competing against the AMD Ryzen 9 3900X which offers a total of 12 cores and 24 threads. The chip is clocked at 3.4 GHz base and 5.2 GHz single core boost clock. The chip features 20 MB of cache, a 105W TDP and has a pricing of $499 US. Intel still won’t be matching AMD’s higher core count on the mainstream platform but looking at the recent AMD Ryzen 3000 reviews, we note that Intel still has a leading position when it comes to single-core and gaming workloads so the 10 core is expected to take the lead further.

Intel Core i7-10700K Flagship 8 Core, Core i5-10600K 6 Core, and Core i3-10350K Specifications

The other chips to talk about are the top tier SKUs of each Core segment. For Core i7, we have the Core i7-10700K, an 8 core and 16 thread part which features clock speeds of 3.6 GHz base and 5.1 GHz boost. The processor offers 16 MB of cache and has a TDP of 95W. Since the Core i7-10700K doesn’t have the “F” suffix with it, it does come with the Intel UHD 730 iGPU and has a pricing of 389 USD. The chip should be positioned against the AMD Ryzen 7 3800X which is also an 8 core & 16 thread part.

The Core i5-10600K is a 6 core and 12 thread part which has a base clock of 3.7 GHz base and 4.9 GHz boost. The chip has 12 MB of cache and has a TDP of 95W. This chip has a pricing of $229 US which positions it against the Ryzen 5 3600X, a $249 US chip. There’s also the Core i5-10400 which is a 6 core and 12 thread part with frequencies of 3.0 GHz base and 4.2 GHz boost with a TDP of 65 Watts and a price of $179 US which is positioned well below the $199 US Ryzen 5 3600. Lastly, we have the Core i3-10350K which is a 4 core and 8 thread part that features a base clock of 4.1 GHz and a boost clock of 4.8 GHz. This chip has 9 MB of cache and a TDP of 91W. The pricing is said to be $179 US while offering better specs than the Core i7-7700K which retail over $350 US.

The entry-level Core i3-10100 also has 4 core and 8 threads with a base clock of 3.7 GHz base and 4.4 GHz boost. The chip will offer 7 MB of cache and 65W at $129 US. You can find the entire specs of this rumored lineup in the following table.

In addition to all the details, the datasheet also lists down a new socket for the 10th Generation lineup. The new socket is rumored to be LGA 1159 so that would point to no compatibility with existing LGA 1151 motherboards. This also means we will be looking at a new chipset. Internally. Intel already has 400-series chipsets ready for their mobile platform (Ice Lake) so we should be expecting Z490 series on the new motherboards.
