This is exactly what happened all over Bulgaria. Back in the communist days, people went out on May 1 and marched on the main square. Students, workers - everyone marched to pledge their allegiance to the Party.

Well, on May 1, 1986, there was a torrential rain all over the country, including during the parades/marches. This was also the day when the radioactive cloud hit Bulgaria. But the media did not say anything. They just said in the most telegraphic way that "the problem in Chernobyl is contained", without any info what problem, why Chernobyl, what is going on at all.
