Nvidia isn't trying to compete with Turing. They are making the prices ridiculously high to entice people to buy the old stock. They probably made too many 10 series chips, thinking that the crypto mining boom would continue, but didn't and ended up with too much stock. The high prices on the new cards are driving people to buy the old cards instead, without Nvidia having to reduce the price of the olds cards, which is exactly what Nvidia wants.
