There are now a number of single and dual core Socket 939 Opterons for sale. The word on the street is that 3GHz is attainable with many of them with out too much trouble. We shall know more tomorrow when we start overclocking our Opteron 165 Socket 939 chip. The 165s appear to be going pretty fast. Here are the CPUs you can buy now with pricing.

For single core either the 146 or 148 are looking good particularly with the 148 a bit cheaper now. Of course the 165 is a hot seller, but the 170 is not too much more expensive and starts you off at 2GHz. With what we are hearing are 50% overclocks on good air cooling any of these are looking good. I'd be quite interested if any of you have them now and could comment on the overclocking. This could be a nice Christmas present for overclockers from AMD.
