Enabling Temperature readings on your 6600gt
Alright so I was kinda pissed off when i got my evga 6600gt that it didn't have a temperature reading in the options. Turns out the manufactures disabled it for some unknown reason. So with the help of nvflash and nibitor I enabled it. Here is how:
1: Make a bootable floppy, how ever you like ( I used this)
2. Download nvflash (I used this version here, before i used 508 and it wasn't working)
3. Extract all those files onto the floppy (Nvflash.exe and Cwsdpmi.exe particularily)
4. Reboot and let the floppy boot up
5. Now you have the prompt type: nvflash -b bios.rom
6. Let that all finish then, pull out the floppy, and boot into windows. Once in windows put in the floppy.
7. Download Nibitor here
8. unzip and run it.
9. Open up your bios saved on the floppy (bios.rom)
10. Click the tempurature tab, then check the "enable 6600gt temp monitor trick"
11. Save it as modbios.rom on the floppy.
12. Reboot and let the floppy boot up.
13. type:
nvflash -r
let that finish
nvflash -6 modbios.rom
let that finish
nvflash -w
let that finish
nvflash -y
and that would reboot your computer. Pull out the floppy and load into windows.
14. Check out your temperature readings
WARNING! DO THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK! I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR SOMETHING GOING WRONG! IF SOMETHING ERRORS TRY IT AGAIN! DON"T FLASH WITH BIOS THAT GAVE YOU ERRORS! AND KEEP A PCI VIDEOCARD IN CASE OF A MIS-FLASH! and incase of a misflash, we already saved the orginal bios as bios.rom on the floppy. the modded one is modbios.rom(duh:P)
EDIT:
-r unlocks it
-6 flashes it
-w locks it
-y reboots
