Nemam WP8 mob, ali mi je logično da bi updateovi mogli ići i preko kompa, a ne samo preko moba obzirom da tu mogućnost imaju i iP i Droidi.

How to install an update
When an update is available, we'll notify you on your phone. After you see the notification, pick a convenient time to install it. The update process can take a while.
If you need to find an update after you've been notified, go to Settings > Phone update, and then follow the prompts to download and install the update.

Postoji Windows Phone app for Desktop, ali je potpuno beskoristan...barem zasad. Još je u Preview fazi pa možda s vremenom i dobije tu mogućnost.
