It wont matter because skyrim only uses dual cores anyways,
So if u have a quad core or hexa core,
they will not preform much better then any other dual core because skyrim is based of a older engine that use dual core.
That's assuming if nothing else is running on his computer at all for the duration that he is playing. I did several tests over the weekend to gauge performance on Dual, Tri, and Quad cores. I turned off cores on my computer for each test to get frame rates in the same areas I tested. Having more than two cores certainly helps your computer avoid frequent lags whenever your OS needs to process something other than Skyrim on your processor. My average FPS with 2 cores active was between 45-50. 3 cores 50-55. 4 cores 55-57. Having more than 2 cores isn't going to increase your FPS, but it definitely smoothens it out and keeps the Min FPS closer to your average.

The 4890 is the recommended GPU and tom's showed a 5770 being able to handle skyrim on high at 1920x1080 quite well so im not sure if OCing your 4870 will help you out a ton.

The CPU scaling however shows some of the slower PII being unable to give good FPS, it doesn't scale with cores much over two cores it would appear so the dual core isn't likely to be your issue but its clock speed may be.

Izgleda da mi ne treba quad core nego dvije brze jezgre. Tak je bar ispalo.

Eto još jedan link. Izgleda da radi s četiri jezgre ali intenzivno koristi samo jednu pa mu je najvažnija brzina.

Po svemu navedenom, AMD s dvije jezgre na 3,6 GHZ bi trebao zadovoljavajuće gurat Skyrim na 1680x1050. Quad bi bio bolji ali...eh, eh... po svemu što piše ne isplatimi se iznad ovog od AMD-a uzimat ništa od Phenoma ili Athlona nego ić na i3 2100 ili najslabiji A8.
