I've changed CMOS batteries before but this is the worst design I've seen. The battery holder is not attached to the board except for the soldered board connections. It is nearly impossible not to break the connection and impossible to resolder once the connection is broken without tearing apart the board. To do it right you have to peal back the plastic battery tab holders on each side of the battery. I used a wooden orange stick while holding the battery down so as to not disturb the connection. Even after all this care I broke the connections. I was lucky in that a spot of glue on the back of the holder without soldering fixed it. Since this is an old pc I figured it was worth a long shot. There is a small bump on the bottom of the holder which corresponds with a small whole on the board they used for assembling. I carefully repositioned the holder and just got lucky. If you change this battery you are going to need luck, too.
