AMD 2010 mainstream, ultrathin notebook platforms unveiled
Both the ultrathin and mainstream platforms feature
45-nm microprocessors, DDR3 memory support, and a new
M880G chipset with DirectX 10.1-class Radeon HD 4200 integrated graphics. AMD has maintained DirectX 11 support for higher-end visuals on Danube through the use discrete graphics cards. The updated hardware should provide a nice bump in performance, while the transition to a 45nm CPU and more efficient chipset will help deliver better battery life.
The chips are expected to appear in at least
135 different products from vendors including
HP, Dell and Lenovo, starting from the end of this month. This includes
109 design wins for Danube (mainstream) and 26 for Nile (ultrathin).
