AMD will be announcing a new chipset for AM3. This new chipset is AMD 890FX. It was planned for launch in Q2 2010. At the mean time, they have got hold of a photo of the upcoming MSI board based on AMD 890FX chipset MSI 890FX-GD70. AMD is going to debut the Leo desktop platform in Q2 next year as the successor of Dragon, and the Leo is expected to be based on three main parts – two of them are Thuban hexa-core processor and RD890 series chipset. Together with the SB850 southbridge, the R890 will make up the 890FX chipset which powers the MSI motherboard seen below. Some early pictures of MSI 890FX-GD70 motherboard have just leaked to Coolaler. As you can see, the board features 5-phase DrMOS, and packs four DDR3 memory slots, no less than six PCIe x16 slots for CrossFireX setup, six SATA 6.0Gbps ports and another SATA connector. The price of 890FX-GD70 has yet to be seen, but it won’t be cheap anyway.
