Gigabyte MA785GPM-UD2H

Last year, AMD stormed the market with it's AMD 780G chipset which was well received by many enthusiasts. This July, AMD launch it's brand new chipset the AMD 785G. As it's name implies, it is an upgraded chipset of 780G. (previously it was known to be RS880). This new integrated core is named ATi Radeon HD 4200. This new chipset has some added on features and they include DX10.1 and UVD 2.0 support, Hardware Picture in Picture, Dynamic COntrast, high Quality Video Scaling, Accelerated Transcode and Effficient PowerPlay.

Similar to the older chipset, this chipset also support DDR2 or DDR3 modules and one PCIe x16 lane for external graphics card. It also support IGP for HDMI, D-SUB or DVI-D display output.
This board we have on hand has a 128M sideport memory and the iGPU can be overclocked as well.
Other than that, the chipset support Hybrid CrossFire when the board is paired up with a supporting graphics card.

Back the the board. The MA785GPM-UD2H supports the AMD AM2/2+/3 Phenom II processors with a Hypertransport bus of 5200/2000 MT/s. It is powered by 785G+SB710 chipsets. There are 4 x 1.8v DDR2 DIMM slots supporting up to 16GB of system memory on board. It supports DDR2-1200(oc)/1066/800MHz memory modules. For graphics memory, it is shared with the on board DDR2 module and 128MB DDR3 of sideport memory powered by Elpida. For multimedia, it has 3 output ports, D-SUB, DVI-D and 1 HDMI port. It uses the Realtek ALC889A 7.1ch HDA codec supporting Dolby home theater and SPDIF IN/out. The LAN is powered by a Realtek RTL8111C chipset.

The south bridge supports the 1 x IDE connector, 5 SATA II ports with RAID 0,1,10,JBOD. The 6th port functions as a eSATA port. It can support up to 12 USB ports (6 already at back panel, 6 more via brackets). 1394 is support by Texas instrument chipset TSB43Ab23 chip, 1 on back panel, 1 via 1394a bracket connected to onboard header. Other Gigabyte features include Ultra Durable 3 which is 2Oz Copper PCB to run the board cooler, 50000 Hr Japanese solid Caps, Dual BIOS. It also has Easy Energy Saver - auto adjust CPu power depending on workload. , EC AOD-ACC and FullHD 1080P bluray playback support.

AM3 "Sargas" Semproni

AMD is preparing its first set of Sempron processors based on the DDR3 supportive AM3 package. The first one, codenamed "Sargas" is a single-core chip that comes across as a single-core variant of the Athlon II X2 "Regor". It features a broad 3.6 GT/s HyperTransport 3.0 system interface, 128 KB of L1 and 1 MB of L2 cache, a dual-channel DDR2/DDR3 memory interface, an up-to-date AMD feature and instruction-set including AMD64, SSE4A, and AMD-V. Sargas is built on Global Foundries' 45 nm SOI process, and has an operating voltage range of 0.85 ~ 1.35 V. The first SKU based on this core is the Sempron X1 140 (model: SDX140HBGQBOX). It has a clock speed of 2.70 GHz, and a bus multiplier of 13.5x. At that speed, its TDP is rated at 45W. It will be available towards the end of this week, priced around 35 Euro.
