Citiraj:
AMD released a newsletter to all of its partners today confirming the price cuts that it predicted when the last set of prices were changed over in August, just a few months ago. The changes will be effective as of December 1st, but they were not published in the newsletter.
Effectively, based on previous cuts and volumes of processors moving, we are looking at cuts of between 10 and 20 percent, almost across the entire desktop range from AMD. With Intel's Core i7 targeting the enthusiast market AMD clearly sees this as an opportunity to make further inroads into the mainstream desktop space in advance of the launch of its next generation of processors (Phenom II) which will debut in Q1 2009.
