HD4850 vs. 8800GT 512 – and the winner is? – rev by Gilbert [56k Warning!]

Malo offtopica u startu

Ovo je moj prvi pokušaj da napišem nešto pametno, cisto da vidim mogu li ja to. I ofkors da vidim razliku izmeðu ove dvije kartice. Da danas sam bio mišljenja da ATI/AMD prodaju maglu sa novim proizvodima, samo da se furaju na marketing i da sa serijom 4*00 ne nude ništa novo, odnosno ništa generalno bolje od suparnika Nvidia-e.

Pobliže o samim karticama. Referentna 8800GT od proizvođaća Club3D, dolazi sa standardnim frekvencijama i single slot hladnjakom. Pošto je to moja kartica, radi poveće buke i temperatura instalirao sam accelero S1 pasivni hladnjak, i na njega pričvrstio 120mm ventilator. Kartica ima vrlo visoki overclock potencijal, iz tog razloga sam overclockao istu na frekvencije 700-1750-2100MHz. To je neki 100% stabilan takt za ovu karticu, i pri ovom taktu nije bilo problema niti s jednim testom.
Što se tiće HD4850, na test sam uvrstio Sapphire-ov model Toxic. Dosta toga se zna o navedenoj kartici. Najbitnije je da dolazi sa Zalman hladnjakom VF900, i dignutim radnim taktovima. Pošto je kartica tvornički OC-ana, smanjio sam frekvencije na defaultne za HD4850 seriju i usporedio sa default 8800GT karticom.

Tvorničke OC postavke sam koristio za usporedbu sa 8800GT 512 OC. Tako da na kraju umjesto dvoboja 1 na 1, imamo 4 kartice na testu.
Kartice, samu tehnologiju i pakiranje neću previše doticati s ovim reviewom, jer ne uspoređujem konkretne kartice veæ cijelu seriju, kao što se iz naslova vidi.

Za testranje sam koristio vrlo malo sintetičkih testova, orjentirao sam se više na realnom prikazu snage kartica kroz igre. Neki game benchmarks tools-i nisu radili kako treba, tako da sam veliki dio igara testirao sa Fraps programom. Minus ovog načina mjerenja je jasan svima, ali je bio jedini mogući način. Testni dijelovi igara su bili dobro memorirani, tako da testovi moraju biti vjerodostojni. Krenimo sada dalje...

HD4850 Toxic - Pakiranje, bundle i kartica:

Kartica dolazi u zanimljivom pakiranju, kutija je lijepa, kartica je dobro zaštićena od udaraca. Bundle je poveći i jedan od najboljih što sam vidio u zadnje vrijeme.
Glavno obilježje HD4850 Toxic kartice su povišeni taktovi i Zalman VF900. Taktovi referentne verzije HD4850 su 625Mhz za jezgru i 993MHz za memoriju. Taktovi Toxic verzije su 675MHz za jezgru i 1100MHz za memoriju. Osnovni problem ovog modela je nemoguènost softverske regulacije ventilatora, te se on okreæe na 1750 rpm, što je previše zbog loše kvalitete samog ventilatora i generira veliku buku. Uz manji mod, moguće je spojiti Zalman Fanmate 2 na karticu i s njim regulirati okretaju. Temperature se kreću od 40-45 stupnjeva u idle, u loadu se temperatura penje na prihvatljivih 65 stupnjeva.
