Upgraded Nvidia GeForce GTX 260 GPU could cause overstock problems

To defend against AMD's high-end ATI Radeon HD 4870 GPU, Nvidia has recently launched an upgraded version of its GeForce GTX 260, however sources at graphics card makers are worried it could create overstock problems for previous version GeForce GTX 260 cards.
The upgraded GeForce GTX 260 features the D10U-102 core which is manufactured by Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) using its 65nm process. The major difference is the new GPU has 216 stream processors, upgraded from 192. The two versions feature the same core and memory frequencies of 576MHz and 1,242MHz, respectively.
The sources expect the upgraded card will be priced close to the previous card, but since the upgraded card offers a 5-10% performance boost, it is expected to put the previous card in an awkward position.
