I called Crucial this morning to initiate an RMA for my (once again) dead Ballistix Tracer 1066 kit. The lady on the other end of the phone kindly notified me that the Engineers at Crucial have invalidated the compatibility listing for X38/48 boards. As of 3/7/2008 Crucial no longer lists X38/48 as a compatible chipset for their DDR2 800 and DDR2 1066 sticks of Ballistix Tracers. Your warranty is still good, but what they try to do is offer you a set of RAM that would be a step down as a replacement. You can kindly ask them to just do the normal RMA and they will send you a new set of your current RAM. Keep in mind however, once your third set dies, they will either force you to get something else, or give you Crucial.com credit.
