Evo vidim da o ovome nema nigdje riječi na forumu, pa da ja nešto napišem iz vlastitog iskustva.
Radi se o kombinaciji Intelovog chipseta (u mom slučaju DFI LP UT P35-T2R / ICH9R), WD Raptora 150gb, postavljanja RAID0 polja i instalaciji Viste, što skupa dovodi do jednog problema, a to je nemogućnost instalacije Viste.
Taj problem me mučio dosta vremena, a tek nedavno sam slučajno saznao da je i sam Intel priznao taj problem i napisao rješenje.

Događa se to da se u određenim slučajevima Vista ne može instalirati na gore navedenu kombinaciju, jednostavno se instalacija zamrzne nakon prvog restarta, a katkada i prije.
Intel kaže da je to zbog nekog LPM-a (Link Power Management), tehnologije koja je namijenjena laptopima, a koja kod desktop sustava zna raditi probleme (kao šta je meni radila, npr.)

A change was made by Microsoft* in the Windows Vista setup process. The result of this change is that the Intel® Matrix Storage Manager Link Power Management (LPM) registry settings that were intended for mobile installations are added for desktop installations as well. These LPM registry settings are added for both the Intel® Matrix Storage Manager RAID driver on the Windows Vista installation disk, as well as for any drivers added during the installation process.
Various desktop Serial ATA devices such as hard drives and CD/DVD drives have been reported that do not comply with the Serial ATA LPM device specification and display erratic behavior when LPM is enabled.
Because the setup change means that LPM is enabled by default for all Windows Vista platforms, using a device that does not completely follow the specification may result in one of the listed issues.

Ovo zadnje je krajnje debilno, prebaciti na IDE mode da bi se problem riješio...
To je nešto slično kao ubiti pacijenta koji ima rak, da bi se riješio problem raka...
Rješenje (navodno) je instalacija najnovijih Intelovih SATA/RAID drivera pri instalaciji Viste (u dijelu kada treba odabrati na koji HDD želite instalirati Vistu, dolje imate "Load driver". Fileove prebacite na usb stick i loadate ih preko "load driver").

Solution Version 7.5 of the Intel® Matrix Storage Manager works around this issue by disabling LPM. Installing this version may resolve the issue.- Use the instructions in the readme file to extract the necessary files from the installation package. These files are: iaStor.sys, iaStor.cat, iaStor.inf, and TXTSETUP.oem.
- Place the files on a floppy disk, USB device, or CD/DVD media.
- During the Microsoft Windows Vista installation process, select the Load Driver option when you see a screen titled Where do you want to install Windows?
- Insert the media that contains the driver files.

A sada još nešto iz vlastitog iskustva: probao sam rješenje i pogađate - ne radi (barem meni. Zato i jesu stavili "may"). Peh, nesreća ili nešto treće - ne znam. Znam jedino da sam sada na XP-u radi toga (XP radi bez problema i nema navedene probleme).
